Irish offer Jones...

* A few more offers went out to junior prospects, but none larger (both in offer and prospect stature) than defensive lineman Jarron Jones of Rochester, New York.
BlueandGold.com reports that defensive coordinator Bob Diaco offered Jones, who already has Florida State, Penn State and Michigan among his 16 offers.
?Yes, he offered me today,? Jones told BlueandGold.com. ?I?m really interested in Notre Dame. They like me at defensive end.?
At 6-6 or 6-7, and around 290-pounds, Jones has an absolutely massive frame, and he has pretty elite athleticism for a guy his size. Diaco?s a great guy to have recruiting Jones, and he?ll likely end up a national recruit as well.

ESPN - Jones lands two more big offers

3/3

ESPNU 150 Watch List defensive tackle Jarron Jones (Rochester, N.Y./Aquinas Institute) went from no-name recruit to big-time recruit almost overnight.
"Last summer word started to get out about him," Aquinas Institute coach Chris Battaglia said. "Boston College gave him his first offer after he attended camp there for one day. After that he exploded on the scene. He had a great junior year and people started to notice him."
Buffalo, Connecticut, Rutgers and Syracuse are among the schools that have extended an offer to Jones since then. His most recent offers came from Florida and Notre Dame last weekend.

Country's No. 2-rated defensive tackle considering Wolverines | The Detroit News

In the fast-paced world of college recruiting it's not uncommon for prospects to get caught up in the excitement of the process. Big-time scholarship offers begin rolling in, and in the midst of all that jubilance, hasty decisions are sometimes made.

That's what happened early on in the recruitment of Rochester (NY) Aquinas Institute defensive tackle Jarron Jones. The 6-foot-5, 300-pounder was overwhelmed when perennial Big Ten power Penn State put on its full-court recruiting press. A memorable visit last winter combined with a strong connection with the Nittany Lions staff caused him to jump at the chance to verbally commit. His family told him he should have looked harder before he leaped.

"To be honest with you, Jarron kind of made that decision without discussing it with me and his father," said Jones' mother, Lakiescha Titus-Jones. "Like we tried to tell him, it is OK to feel the way you felt about Penn State, but what we tried to make him do is not to commit and (instead) just list his top five, six, or seven. He just wanted to let Penn State know it was No. 1.

"There is nothing to not like about Penn State, but I want him to make an educated decision. He hasn't seen places like Michigan. He hasn't seen places like Notre Dame. He hasn't seen Louisville, North Carolina, or really even Syracuse."
