OBSERVATIONS FROM THE BARCALOUNGER - PSU

I believe October is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

And regarding Boone's leap-frogging of Hartline - it was very impressive to see Boone doing that (also impressive was him getting a block near the sideline to create the seam). But it made me concerned about somebody getting hurt during a celebration - I'd rather not see that happen again.

um... i thought brad nessler officially declared it "breast awareness month", no? damn!

I'd like to keep the momentum rolling by saying I love the weekly observations columns. Love them. But there are some things you simply don't joke about, and domestic violence is one of them. Shame on you for doing it, and please stop it.
Just for that:

"Why did God invent the shopping cart? To teach chicks how to walk on their hind legs"

There is more insensitive jokes where that came from if you test me enough... Nobody thinks he hits his wife or thinks its ok to so relax.

Seriously I was putting a new axle in the rear end.

Sounds like one of Thump;s euphemisms.

I'VE HAD ENOUGH! WTF WAS HERBIE'S QUIP??? (And Yes, I'm shouting)

They were doing a comparison of other old farts to JoPa. They had Paul Newman, and a couple of others. Then they brought up Hugh Hefner and Herbiie said "He just keeps on coming."

Mussberger picked right up on it, but to be honest I am not sure it wasn't scripted.

Thanks. I didn't have audio when he was doing that. Pretty funny, though

Thanks for showing us the level of maturity it takes to appreciate a joke about domestic violence.

I liked the joke so here is something green for you.

WHO SAID WOMEN CAN'T TAKE DIRECTIONS!The CIA had an opening for an assassin. After all of the background checks, interviews, and testing were done there were three finalists, two men and a woman. For the final test, the CIA agents took one of the men to a large metal door and handed him a gun. "We must know that you will follow your instructions, no matter what the circumstances. Inside of this room, you will find your wife sitting in a chair, KILL HER!!"

The man said, "You can't be serious. I could never shoot my wife." The agent said, "Then you're not the right man for this job. The second man was given the same instructions. He took the gun and went into the room. All was quiet for about five minutes. Then the man came out with tears in his eyes. "I tried, but I can't kill my wife." The agent said, "You don't have what it takes, Take your wife and go home."
Finally, it was the woman's turn. She was given the same instructions, to kill her husband. She took the gun and went into the room. Shots were heard, one shot after another. They heard screaming, crashing, banging on the walls. After a few minutes, all was quiet. The door opened slowly and there stood the woman. She wiped the sweat from her brow and said, "You guys didn't tell me the gun was loaded with blanks. I had to beat him to death with the chair."

Before this gets out of hand....

It was not my intention to create a rift on the board by a joke that some consider in poor taste. And to be sure we all understand, it is taste that is the issue.

We are not divided over domestic violence. Nobody on here supports domestic violence. We are divided over what constitutes appropriate humor. And that is a matter of taste, or, if you will, maturity. My wife - jaw intact - would be the first to tell you that I possess neither.

So was my joke inappropriate? What is the standard we apply?

There is an answer to that, and it is the standard set by Clarity when he established the board. For the open forum it was OK. Here it was perhaps borderline. That is as close as I can come to a retraction without biting clean through my tongue. In the future I will precede my observations with the appropriate disclaimers.

Can we let it go at that?

Go Bucks!

Let them be written by that up and coming young fellow of yours - a great addition to your cast of writers.

1. QUARTERBACK CONTROVERSEY

For anyone who hasn't already figured it out, I don't know shit.

I called out Boeckman last week for making mistakes under pressure - which he did. But I also said it might be an area of concern - which it was not.

I have also called him a role player, who performs very well within a limited role as a QB.

A couple of weeks ago I called Boeckman "servicable" as I thought he would be a bit like Krenzel. After Saturday's performance, I want to completely acknowledge that I was wrong. He did everything right, his throws were spot on, and his reads of the coverage couldn't have been better. Couldn't be more happy to be wrong either. Great game.

GO BUCKS!

this is certainly a great forum with knowledgeable fans and many good and bad opinions. but i must say, and i think many would agree, these weekly posts are far and away the best thing on BP. And I loved the dom. viol. joke. ive noticed a few other times where you "cross the line", but this is one of the first times that youve hit a cord. keep that up.
