CINCINNATI ? Suspended Bengals linebacker Odell Thurman has been accused of kicking and hitting two men in his Georgia hometown during the weekend. He has not been charged with a crime, but a magistrate will hear testimony Friday to determine if charges should be filed.
The NFL suspended Thurman for the first four games of 2006 after he skipped a drug test. The suspension was extended to a full season following his arrest on a drunken driving charge in September. Thurman is one of nine Cincinnati players to be arrested in the past year.

Not exactly from a major news source, but looks like Odell is at it again:

Odell Thurman in Trouble Again?

Allegations he was involved in an altercation on Sunday and charges are likely to follow.
On ESPN they said charges were filed today.
The good news is Cinci is willing to let the whole Bengal team spend the summer in jail in advance jail time for future indiscretions.

Two Georgia men dropped their complaint against suspended Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Odell Thurman after accusing the player of kicking and hitting them at a party.

Thurman expecting NFL ruling
BY MARK CURNUTTE | [email protected]

Word could come as early as today from the NFL on whether linebacker Odell Thurman will be reinstated after his year-long league suspension.
People in Thurman's camp are optimistic.
"He has done everything he was supposed to," Safarrah Lawson, Thurman's Atlanta-based agent, told The Enquirer on Tuesday.
Thurman's arrest Sept. 25 for DUI was his third violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy, mandating a one-year suspension.
The linebacker completed a four-month alcohol rehabilitation stay in April in South Carolina and a subsequent one-month out-patient program.
Bengals coach Marvin Lewis did not return a message left Tuesday on his cell phone, but in a May interview on WLW-AM, he opened the door for Thurman's return should the NFL reinstate the player.

News - Thurman denied - Cincinnati Bengals

Thurman denied
By GEOFF HOBSON

Even before the Bengals held their first team meeting of the season, the NFL stunned them with Thursday's decision to lengthen Odell Thurman's suspension for another year, according to a Bengals press release. He may reapply for reinstatement after the 2007 season.

Thurman had been expecting to be reinstated in time for the start of training camp, which opens Thursday with the Bengals reporting in preparation for Friday's first practice. For the past month, Safarrah Lawson, one of Thurman's representatives, has been saying that Thurman met all the requirements of the league's substance abuse policy.

Lawson had no comment Thursday.

Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis has been insisting that he wasn't counting on Thurman and didn't list him on the team's first depth chart of the season. But there had been some hope that if he could come near his 2005 form that put him in the NFL Rookie of the Year mix that he would rejuvenate the defense.

The idea had been that they could put Thurman and his five interceptions and four forced fumbles at weak-side linebacker after moving him out of the middle in favor of Ahmad Brooks.

Now that spot clearly belongs to Landon Johnson and Ed Hartwell.

The NFL had yet to respond via phone or e-mail about any reasons commissioner Roger Goodell may have had for denying Thurman. P>During the spring, Thurman had been allegedly involved in an asault at a party in his hometown of Monticello, Ga., but police weren't called at the time and no charges were filed.

It will be very interesting to hear what the rationale for the extension on Thurman's suspension is from Goodell's office. If it is based on a "repeat offender" stance such as Thurman's incident in Spring, which resulted in no charges filed, that may put a huge chill into the marrow of team GMs everywhere around the league.

I don't disagree with coming down hard on thugs and perpetual offenders, but with Tank Johnson and Chirs Henry recieving 'only' 8 game suspensions I wonder if Thurman and the Players Assoc. won't appeal this with at least some success.

I would have to agree with that, unless of course there is stuff that the public does not know about. It could be possible that he failed a drug test, since "officially" the results aren't suppose to be known to the public.
