Official 2006 NCAA Tournament Discussion Thread

Ohio State has really flown under the radar all season long and now that we have amassed a 21-4 record and (knock on wood) the title is ours to loose I was expecting to watch ESPN analyists leaping for the band wagon. Although we are now obviously the class of the big ten it doesn't look as though they are to impressed. I think at this point we are obviously the top number 2 seed heading into March just above Texas. I can't make a case for jumping any of the top seeds (Villanova, Connecticut, Duke, or Memphis) but I believe if we can clinch the title and then take the b10 tournament we should be considered for jumping Memphis based upon our conference schedule. Realistically we will be a number 2 but if we win out I don't care what anyone says we deserve a number 1 seed. What do you think?

Maybe not. I would guess they put us as the top #2 seed playing in the worst #1 seed's bracket. This means we could be elsewhere.

I'm not sure of the system exactly though.
They do it off of location now. The top seeds get rewarded by playing as close to home as possible. OSU will be in Dayton. UConn and Nova will be in Philly. Dook will play in greensboro like always.

I'm not a bracketology expert, but I would have to think with 2 more regular season wins a win in the 1st rd of the B10 tourny would secure the Bucks of the 2 seed (in Dayton hopefully). That would be huge, and seems like a very real possibility. IMO a 2 seed is almost no differnt than a 1, and is a much easier path to 16 vs a 3-4 seed. Anybody with more bracketology expertise care to chime in on what the Bucks have to do to secure a #2 seed?

To guarantee a #2 seed, we need to win these last 2 regular season games and at least win 1 conference tournament game. We would stand at 24-4.

I hope you're right. However, I think that to be guaranteed a #2 seed, we'll have to win out in the regular season and win at least 2 in the conference tourney. Usually the committee doesn't like teams that underperform in their conference tournaments.

Historically, the selection committee has not awarded teams who have done well in their conference tourneys basically, due to the fact a lot of the selection process has been completed prior to the end of the tournaments. Trust me, tOSU is at least a #2 seed at this point.
