Welcome to the 2007 BP Mock Draft.

Rules:
  • Try to be realistic. No trading Peyton Manning for 6 draft picks.
  • You have 12 hours to make your pick, starting from the time the previous pick was made. If you go over the limit, a voting process begins. Anybody can nominate somebody to be drafted, and the player with 3 votes will be the pick.
  • Make trades over PM or any instant messaging progam, not in open threads.
  • If you are going to be away, PM me or anybody else who wants to step up and help with a couple picks you would be OK with making.
The complete draft order hasn't been determined yet, so the draft hasn't started yet. You can just make random Mock Draft related conversation here until Cleveland loses the coin flip. Here are the teams/owners.

Well, what do you know? It was explained in the first post. What a crazy world.

I'm thinking about trying something new. I'll assign each team a day and time to make their pick. That way everybody would know when they would be picking and we wouldn't be waiting 12 hours at most between picks. The downside would be that some people would have their time slots fall during working hours, and they might not be able to get to a computer then.

Thoughts?

What if you did assigned picking after the 1st round? I know I'd feel better about pre-ranking my choices for those rounds, if I was unable to be around at the time.

If the schedule is posted well in advance of the beginning of the draft, then it shouldn't be a big deal. Those who's picks fall in working hours could PM you their top three choices.

Interesting idea, although I sort of like the old way better-sometimes you could get 4 picks in an hour. Stuff happens, so a prearranged time might be a pain. Perhaps you could use the old system, but have everyone PM you a ranked Top 5 picks for their team in the 1st round, so you could immediately plug that in, instead of taking the board consensus.

We tried that last year - some did it well, some not so well .. so you could have hours waiting for pick 8 after picks 2 through 7 blew past in a blur.

What I suspect caused the periodic lack of the use of that PM (which BN27 mentions earlier in the thread) are one, all or none (?) of three things:
1 - Some people just want to plug the pick when they make it, using their own words - though you could overcome it by submitting a thumbnail of "here is why I chose player z at pick #x of round #y" for each of your top 5.
2 - Some people don't want to tip their picks, no matter that it is a PM and the commish is circumspect, or;
3 - Some pickers don't like PMs, perhaps developing that list of n on the fly as the earlier pickers capture some of their target players.
