Official FIFA 2010 World Cup Discussion

Great draw for the U.S.!!!

They will make it out of the group but could get tough 1st knockout round if we face Germany. Smith picked the Germans to win it all.

That weekend is going to be great.

12th - USA vs. England
13th - Graduate from The Ohio State University

Damn that's gonna be AWESOME!!!

Hey congrats to you two, Mac and Merih. Well when you get there, lots of work yet I'm sure. But a cool couple of days for sure.

I want Donovan to score more than anything in that game. It's not because of the phantom Donovan and Beckham spat at the beginning of the season but because it would be fitting for soccer in the USA. A big FU, Landon wants to play in the MLS and can play on the international stage.

England's coach kinda scares me though, in that he's a cocky no BS kind of coach. That's perfect for a team like England to be successful. Either way, get some points out of the game or take care of the other two.

Also would like to say that I am really really happy Bradley is our coach.

Jesus! Start the damn draw already!

They hammer out NCAA selection sunday in 45 minutes the week before the event! What the hell is taking so long?

AFRICA! This is why you can't have nice things!

Can't have nice things? Let's see. Rugby World Cup. Confederations Cup. World Equestrian championship. Uh, maybe there is a slight bias toward impatience in American culture?

Oh, and then, if we really want to talk about nice things, this looks bad to you?

"Welcome back to the World Cup North Korea" - Alexi Lalas

Yeah no [censored]. After not making a World Cup since 1966, North Korea gets drawn into Group G with Brazil, Portugal and Ivory Coast.

At least they get to see Cape Town.

The talking heads in SA today have the USA as a possible favorite in the World Cup. Saying lots of favorable things about their recent performance on bigger stages.

The USA already is the second largest country in ticket sales.

I don't think England are any great shakes, really. No goalkeeper, a defence in decline - as Terry is a one-dimensional yard dog and Ferdinand is past his best and increasingly injury-prone - a consistent failure to use their best player (Gerrard) effectively, and an over-reliance on the most overrated player in world football, Fathead Rooney. They will get out of the group but not much further, Capello or no.

Germany have a horrible group, very tough. But they are a very well-coached, disciplined team, consistently better than the sum of its parts, and should go far.

I love the World Cup. Have some great memories of tournaments past.

Steve, I really, really want to go. World Cup goes on at the same time as my graduation from college, and it would be a great trip for myself to take before starting up my career.

What would be a reasonable cost of travel, with tickets and hotel stay?

Mann I can't wait for this. We have a great draw and are second in ticket sales behind only the host South Africa. Hopefully this is the coming out party for us. I'll be watching every step of the way.

USA!!

Tim Howard, US Goalkeeper, just came up with an amazing save against a PK for Everton against Spurs in the 96th minute! He looked on amazing form right now and is in the top 3 of Premiership goalkeepers easily.

It will be great having him in goal against England, who have a penchant for long range bombing.
