Official NCAA 2007 Info Thread (Merged)

The kicking game changes were put in place to make it harder to consistently get 20+ yards per punt return. I don't like it personally, but once I get online, I think that it will help people play more straight. It is third person BTW. If it were first person, it would be like a first person shooter, and you wouldn't be able to see the guy that you're controlling at all. Third person means you are controlling him from outside his body, but still looking from his vantage point.

I was never good at returning kicks, and I don't play online. But ehh.. whatver.

And maybe you're right about the 3rd person deal. I still think I'm right, though. But who really cares? It's still annoying.

Also, has anyone EVER seen a blocked kick since the 2003 game? Maybe I just really suck at it, but I have never even seen a blocked kick. It got to the point with the last game that if the other team scored a touchdown, I'd put a defense in there that wasn't going to give up a fake field goal for 2 points.

And one thing I thought that they might add this year is the 2 punt returners formation. I'm not talking about the "safe punt return" play. That's just defense, where the safeties are back deep. I thought we might get the standard "Holmes & Ginn" punt returners.

I've blocked a few fieldgoals this year on the 360 version. I've also gotten a number of roughing penalties for trying to jump the snap and not blocking the ball.

I was also hoping for another punt return formation. I'd also like a 3-back kick return, where Ginn is the deep man in the center and Gonzo and someone else are positioned on each side of the 10 yard line.

i blocked a kick with d'andrea this morning. It was a pretty sweet video game block. I jumped the snap with pitcock up the middle, flattened the center, dove for the block.... I just missed it myself, but Mike came through the hole i had opened. he jumped straight up and just got a piece of it. the ball still traveled probably 30 yards down field. IMO the realism with the game this year is really good.

So I returned the 360 version, bought a PS2 and got it for PS2. It is 23049030493904903493 times better for the PS2, and I am now selling my 360. Not only did they totally fuck up Madden last year for the 360, but now they fucked up NCAA for it. Entirely too worried about makin the game pretty, and taking half the good features out.

The defense upsets me because they give you no reaction time. I am warming up a bit on the game but still the game's fluidity is nowhere near as smooth as on XBOX for '06. It seems really jerky and unnatural. I'm playing in HD soon so maybe I'll like it better.

OK, I won the National Title in my first year, against Nebraska of all things. Troy got robbed by losing the Heisman to some assclown HB at Alabama. I led the nation in fumbles lost...by a lot. I'm very glad that I ran a year in Dynasty before going online. Protecting the ball is MUCH more important in this game, than stiff arming, spinning, juking, or anything else you can do while running the ball. I forced 6 or more turnovers in every single game, but had no fewer than two fumbles, most of them lost, in every game as well. Moral of the story. Use triangle button when running through traffic.

What is up with the Campus Legend feature. Everytime I practice and gain points to add to my attributes they are gone before I get there? I have been robbed out of at least 10 points by now.

If you think you're losing the points you gained during your daily practices, those points are given to your player when you use that formation in games. You seem to lose those points about every 3 weeks or so. Maybe 4 weeks. So you have to keep practicing those formations. If you go to the screen where you see your GPA and stuff, there's one screen that shows all your formations. It says how many bonus points you have for each formation.

If you think you're losing the points you gained during the "position drills," then I don't know how to help you. I've never lost those points.

By the way, I was getting powerful pissed at the daily practices. You need something like 75 points to gain a bonus point, and they kept making me pick QB draws (my QB was a pocket-passer). I'd lose 2-5 yards a play, and sometimes fumble or all kinds of suck. I found out that if they "randomly" pick a play you don't like, you can hit "start," then go down to "respot the ball." You don't have to actually respot the ball. But it will pick a new play for you.

Something else I've decided needs to be tweaked more: momentum. I like the idea of momentum adding to one team's stats, but it doesn't make sense, sometimes. For example, I hold the other team to a 3-and-out. I get a +1 on my momentum. I get the ball, drive down the field, and score a touchdown. It's up to +5 (max). Again, I hold them to 3-and-out. I drive down the field, and fumble the ball. The other team gets it inside their own 20, down 7-0, and they have a +2 momentum. On third down, I intercept the ball, and get it at about the 20. Does the momentum shift back to me? Nope. They still have their +2 momentum. I score the touchdown, and it goes back to +5 for me.

Or another time, I was up a bunch. Something like 31-0. I put in all my back-ups, and the opposing QB starts lighting them up. (I think some of the back-up defensive backs on my created team were also my back-up receivers.) It's 31-21 before too long. And I still have a +3 momentum. That doesn't make sense to me.

Anyway, it's still a good game. I won't poop on it just yet.

I hadn't checked the formation points to add so that is where they might be. I just figured that they would be in my ratings. Thanks for the help in that.

I like the game but it is almost too involved though. I didn't do the Heisman on 06 but if you have to run the practice in Dynasty mode it is really going to be difficult to stick with it.

I don't ever use the practice option in Campus Legend. Just a waste of time to me. When I started my freshman season I made the mistake of choosing Psychology as my major. I was ruled ineligible by the 3rd game because of grades. I didn't ever study or tutor.

Next season I took Sports Geography as a major. Had a 4.0 and made Deans List. Now I'm doing ESPN as my Junior season Major. For a mid level major, it is pretty hard. I know most info about ESPN. But it asks questions like what college the ESPN anchors went to, and where they played.

As far as practicing, the only thing I do is the Position Drills. I do those twice a week, and every once and while I will do tutoring once a week instead to keep my GPA up.

I have built my player up. He is basically a Reggie Bush remake. 99 speed, agility, and accelleration. I never did the drills my freshman year. If I would've my player would be even better.

This is fucked up.

It wont let me put my first team quarterback in. No matter how I switch the depth chart, or sub in the 1st/2nd team, it will not let me put my starting quarterback in...

Any advice? Its my second season in dynasty.
