COOK TO VISIT FOR RUTGERS GAME
Ohio State’s upcoming contest against Rutgers Saturday won’t have nearly the same recruiting buzz as the Wisconsin or Notre Dame games, but it should still have several prospects in attendance on visits.

One of them will be 2025 Ohio offensive lineman Jake Cook, who camped with Ohio State twice this summer and also visited twice in the spring.

THE HURRY-UP: JAKE COOK ENJOYED “AWESOME” ATMOSPHERE AT OHIO STATE, JERMAINE MATHEWS CONTINUES STRONG SEASON, CALVIN SIMPSON-HUNT AND MALIK HARTFORD WILL BE HONORED AS ALL-AMERICANS

2025 Ohio offensive lineman Jake Cook has made no shortage of visits to Ohio State over the last few months.

A sophomore at nearby Westerville North, Cook visited OSU twice in the spring and camped with the Buckeyes twice in June. But Saturday’s contest against Rutgers afforded him his first chance to experience a gameday atmosphere at Ohio Stadium.

“The visit was great, the atmosphere was totally awesome,” Cook told Eleven Warriors. “It was my first time going to a game, I went to the spring game back in April and that atmosphere was totally different. It was a packed game and that was really cool to see. I got to go into the locker room after the game and hear coach Day talk, that was really sweet.

  • Ohio 2025 offensive lineman Jake Cook: “My visit was great. I loved watching them have fun and play as a team. The offensive line did great in the run game. I talked with coach Frye a lot throughout the day and he wants me to have me come to the Michigan game. Also coach Frye and coach Sollenne love that I wrestle and they want to come watch me in a match this winter.”

A 'rasler eh? Always love to load up in the trenches with guys that have wrestling backgrounds, they just seem to pan out at a higher rate...and for obvious reasons imo knowing what wrestling does to understand leverage and toughen you up. Seems like an offer should be going out any day now, though being a '25 recruit there is plenty of time.

My h.s. wrestling coach always said 6 minutes on the mat was more grueling than 4 quarters of football playing both ways. I didn't play football but I can't believe that isn't true.

I played both and never came off the field in football, and will say that is a bit of an exaggeration lol. It takes a minute to recover from a full 4 quarters of football. But what is true is that wrestling is more physically grueling than any sport I have ever played in general, especially the high energy and cardio in short spurts. I benefited quite a bit from wrestling in football and I played skill positions, but the OL/DL really get the benefit even more because of learning leverage points. So many great OL/DL in the NFL that wrestled and it drives me insane when HS football coaches discourage guys to wrestle, it does the kids no favors if they are into the sport.

Ok, I will get off my soapbox there and just say I am glad Jake is a wrestler and looks like an incredible prospect on the OL. Love getting great Ohio OL prospects, I'm no ComputerBuck but there are true special powers that come with that distinction.
