And how does Jamario O'Neal have realistic chance?

Yeah, you're right...he's just the #2 ranked corner in the entire country and was (and may still be) ranked as the #1 player in the state. No chance, but a 3-star running back is in the top 5 for Mr. Football. :roll1:

Are you referring to Sutton or Simpson? Because Sutton has a MAJOR chance (and could probably be considered at least the second favorite behind Ringer), and he's a 3-star running back, too.

Since when do they award Mr. Football to the guy who is ranked the highest according to Rivals or Insiders?

It's a stat-based award and O'Neal's stats aren't close enough to even sniff the Top 5.

Proposed Mr. Football vBet

It has been suggested that we set up a vBet on who will be selected Mr. Football from Ohio (good idea NJ Buckeye). I will do that, but the problem I have is the odds - they shouldn't be the same for each candidate.

I have tried pari-mutuel bets in the past where I changed the odds to match the final betting totals, but the SW wont let me change the odds after the fact - so I have to set them going in. Here are my proposed candidates and some odds, but I haven't followed HS performances enough to know if I am in the ballpark. I will give folks a couple of days to suggest adjustments and then post it.

10-1 Alex Boone, St. Edward, Sr., OL
20-1 Tyrell Sutton, Archbishop Hoban, RB/DB
1-1 Javon Ringer, Chaminade-Julienne, TB
20-1 Rob Schoenhoft, Cincinnati St. Xavier, QB
20-1 Mister Simpson, Cincinnati Colerain, FB
20-1 Jamario O'Neal, Cleveland Glenville, RB/DB
20-1 Mario Manningham, Warren Harding, WR
20-1 Other

Boone will be hurt by the forfeits. Voters will allow that to sway them unfortunately and he is an Olineman. Not a media friendly position.

Ringer, Sutton, Simpson and Manningham I really think are the front runners.

O'Neal, although probably the most talented and naturally gifted of the group will not be tested enough at his corner position to garner many votes.

Schoenhoft missed some time with a minor injury and that will hurt him a bit.

Alex Daniels could get some attention and that would only hurt Sutton and O'Neal competing for that "defense friendly" vote.

My early prediction is Mario Manningham. He already had a great game against O'Neal's Defense and will play a pretty good schedule.

So for me, I'd say Ringer, Sutton and Manningham should be about the same odds. Simpson a little further of a stretch and the rest a little more distant.
