Doesn't sound familiar, but who knows? You should try the "Search" feature Stocks. Unlike Bucknuts, the search function actually works here at BuckeyePlanet (it's pretty good too).

You're going to get a lot of argument from Michigan fans on their actual number of national titles. They claim a lot of bogus "retroactive" titles prior to the 1930s (1901, 1902, 1903, 1904, 1923, etc.). They only have two true recognized national titles, both from the AP poll: 1948 and 1997. Note that they've never been recognized as national champions by the coaches poll which has been in existence since 1950. That means out of the 54 title the coaches have awarded, none have been given to Michigan.
So the "greatest college football program of all-time" wins a half national title every half century.

in fact you were correct...he said they have 11 and 15 if you count the "other" ones!?!?!?!

Michigan has 5 recognized titles (3 of those pre AP/Coaches). They have 23 total awarded to them by some fly-by-night organization or another. Really though, who cares? Ask him if he really enjoys reminising about those turn of the century titles ... great memories huh?

When they start going on about things that happened way back when just remind them that from 1869 to present Yale has the highest win % and highest number of NC's. They can't have it both ways, either the sum total of college football history is the benchmark or anyone can pick a date and make their case.
So if you go by the first standard then Yale is the big boy on the block, if you choose the second and use the modern era of college football(post WWII) as most people do, then scUM has issues as far as win% and NC's go.
