...May said, "Terrelle Pryor is a freshman. He'll make freshman mistakes. He'll throw and interception or fumble or something."

That was his contribution.

Typical talking head nonsense. When they aren't prepared and would rather not be there, they just spout a cliche and hope that it looks like they care whether or not they're right.

LAST 4 GAMES:
  • Freshman Terrelle Pryor: 1 Interception
  • Junior Juice Williams : 8 interceptions
...and yet Mark May droned on about "Freshman Mistakes".

Why could we not close out the game rushing the ball the way Juice Williams and the Illini did last year.

Last year, Illinois was protecting a one touchdown lead with plenty of time left. Obviously they had their best players in. We were ahead three scores. Tress likes to put in the backups whenever he can. That will reap rewards next year, same with the defense giving up points late. They'll be better because of it. Always good for the guys to have film to watch.

Geez! Our tackling was making them look like Superman over and over. Was it a plan to give them short stuff and protect the big play?
Did we miss Hines that much today? The starters did give up only 13 today so it's not like they sucked. Missed tackles drive me crazy. :tongue2:

TP was magnificent! Beanie was a beast! Sanz was a factor. The offense was pretty basic.

Dang we have way too many whiners in here.
My team is as good as it is, they might win a NC or the B10 Championship but they are what they are.
A perfect player , a perfect team, a perfect play, a perfect game continues to elude every player and team out there.
Today we won a hard game in a harsh environment against a spirited foe. The Illini fully expected to win today especially after last year.
However we came out the winner , the score doesn't matter. We won.
We need to celebrate that effort by our team not spend hours doggin the refs or the team or a player.
Geezo pete guys give it a break , you are dragiing me down here.

on the ESPN.com box score, it says malcolm jenkins returned a punt for 14 yards. I know he blocked that one, but i don't recall him returning one. anyone know when it was?
He didn't. They are probably crediting him with the 14 yards the ball rolled (err.... flew) to get to the EZ (obviously don't count the 10 yards of the EZ itself))

yeah, that was the fastest I've ever seen a football fly backwards after a blocked kick, it must have hurt like hell for whichever body part Jenkins blocked it with

Wow. Just wow. I'm very happy with what I saw today. The playcalling was much better, with lots of misdirection and tricky plays when Illinois was overpursuing, and then feeding them a healthy dose of Beanie when they were worn out from chasing our misdirection plays. The offensive line still makes me facepalm, but it was better this week. The defensive line was solid, always getting pressure, but kept losing contain on Juice. Jenkins was a monster this game. You know your CB is doing good things when he has few tackles, lots of passes defended, and has a blocked punt. Pryor continues to astonish, deciding early and often to tuck it and pick up 15 on the ground. Beanie had yet another gritty game where he proves how incredibly tough he is by dragging defenders, stiffarming, and hurdling his way to a big game.

Yes, it's just Illinois. They're not a good team, and their defense is atrocious. But I get the feeling that this team could do a whole lot more if they're pushed to do more. I think we could compete in a BCS bowl this year.
