It will be interesting to see if Matta uses Lauderdale and Wallace more inside as those big bodies would help a lot in the rebounding.
We will definitely need more players to step up.
Also I think that it is apparent that Matta is getting more set in his rotation and that minutes will be harder to come by for some players.

Ohio State faces No. 15 Texas A&M to settle matters in NIT Tip-Off

NEW YORK ? Offered an olive branch regarding Syracuse's loss Wednesday night in the NIT Season Tip-Off that Jim Boeheim refused, offering a common-sense answer instead.

Asked if his young team, especially starting freshmen Jonny Flynn and Donte Greene, was a bit overwhelmed by playing at Madison Square Garden, Boeheim said, "It didn't seem to bother Koufos at all."

That would be Kosta Koufos, Ohio State's seven-foot freshman center who had the 21st- ranked Orange turned every which way in the Buckeyes' 79-65 victory. Unranked Ohio State (3-0), which Boeheim called "without any question a Top 25 team," plays No. 15 Texas A&M (5-0) for the championship on Friday night at 7. Syracuse (3-1) plays Washington (3-1) in the consolation at 4:30, and though the Huskies have their own post threat in rugged junior forward Jon Brockman, the Orange figure to have an easier time with him than they did with Koufos.

Koufos scored inside and out ? his first field goal was a three-pointer ? in scoring a game-best 24 points and adding nine rebounds. Koufos was 6-for-8 from the field in the first half, 2-for-2 in threes, and finished 10-for-17.

I agree. We were soundly beaten on the boards by Syracuse. Look for Lauderdale to get some increased minutes in this game. We will need his length.

tend to disagree. I know that Dallas is an extremely physical player and can rebound very well but when he is in the game, at this point in his career, he does not bring much offense to the game, if you put him in do you take out KK or Hunter and if you do that where are the points going to come from. I think Twig can get pretty physical while lacking the "length" that Dallas would bring along with the fact Twig brings a little more offense to the game.

Wallace is indeed a big body but right now I can see them going up against 6'9" + guys to get rebounds. Maybe later in his career when he can develop a Charles Barkley mentality.

He has played a grand total of 17 minutes so far, not sure if that is enough time to say he does not bring much offense. I tend to believe that he hasn't gotten the opportunities to this point. Mark it down right now. We will need Lauderdale tonight.

NIT Season Tip-Off title up for grabs in NYC


New York, NY (Sports Network) - Madison Square Garden is the venue for tonight's NIT Season Tip-Off championship game, featuring the Ohio State Buckeyes and the 16th-ranked Texas A&M Aggies.

The Buckeyes notched their spot in tonight's title game by upsetting 21st- ranked Syracuse, 79-65, in the semifinals at MSG on Wednesday. It was the third win in as many games this season by Ohio State, which defeated Wisconsin-Green Bay (91-68) and Columbia (68-54) to win the Midwest Regional and earn its spot in New York City. The Buckeyes had made just one previous appearance in this event prior to this season, going 0-2 in their 1989 showing.
As for Texas A&M, it punched its ticket into the finals behind a 77-63 victory over Washington in the semifinal round on Wednesday. The win improved the team to a perfect 5-0 on the season and that includes victories over Oral Roberts (67-53) and Texas-El Paso (81-76) in the South Regional of this tournament. Prior to this season, the Aggies had made just one appearance in this event, losing to UAB in the first round of the inaugural competition in 1985.
