Several of those who are instrumental to the previews are unable to participate this year. We will reassess next year; but for now, the previews are on hiatus.

Here is the only preview anyone needs.

As someone who doesn't know anything to contribute to take anyone's place I'm disappointed but I understand. Always was interested and something to get through game week. You won't by chance be running your By The Numbers section anywhere else are you? It was probably my favorite part.

I will occasionally update the Statistical Analysis thread with some of the information that would otherwise have gone into the preview. That's a better place for the information anyway, as it is augmented by the contributions of numerous other posters.

I called Dish about this last night, since the B10 network was running a crawl during the Wiscy replay about Dish dropping them.

I was told in no uncertain terms that they were NOT going to be dropping the network, and that I had absolutely nothing to worry about. It sounds like they had received a lot of calls, and I am certain the representative was reading from a cue sheet on that subject.

Now, they can tell me that all they want, but until I turn the game on and it is there, I will not be convinced. It did sound hopeful however.

If it is not on Dish, I am up a "very brown and smelly" creek however. I will be way up in Northern Michigan, and plan to take my receiver with me up to hunting camp to watch the game. It is at least a half hour to a bar from there, and it is certainly not a sure thing that a bar up there would have the Buckeyes on, even if they have a provider that is carrying it.

If I miss this first game, after all the anticipation and waiting for the season to start, I will be one unbelievably upset Dish customer. You can screw with other channels, but not the ones that carry the Buckeyes!!!

Go Bucks. Let's get this party started!!!

As far as I'm concerned, Kasich should declare a holiday and a month-long celebration - not because the Buckeyes are finally playing - but because the 2RIPP offense is over (that's 2 runs, incomplete pass, and punt) and also because the offensive coordinator does not have the initials JB. JB was not only the leader of unwatchable offense (I know he was doing what Tressel told him but don't bother me with inconvenient facts), but I also think he was responsible for climate change, bad world ecomonic conditions, baby seal beatings, and Katy and Tom's divorce.

I can tell you don't mean that because you did not capitalize "FACTS"!

Mods- feel free to delete this if it's seen as "spam".

Six blogs from the Buckeye Bloggers Network have their collaborative preview up for this week's game with the RedHawks.

What I am serious about is being very glad to see the 2RIPP go. Look, Tressel and Co. won a ton of games and I loved almost all of it. But it drove me crazy to see them gear down at the start of games and then gear down more once they had a lead in the 2nd half - and that would include a 1 point lead! The whole idea of conservative offense is to not put stress on your defense, but when giving up a TD loses the game, that's putting stress on your defense.

The Sugar Bowl vs. Arkie is a perfect example. The Bucks took it to them in the 1st half, and were about one more score away from burying them, but they went to the 2RIPP, allowed Arkansas back into the game, and really should have lost the thing.

Last year Bollman really geared down, and remarkably, for a few games thought that Joe B gave the offense the best chance over B Miller or Guiton. Really? I played the game all through HS and one year of college. I understand the game, but not the extreme details of offensive x's and o's. I'm an old fat man sitting in an easy chair in Holmes County last year watching games. Even I knew what was coming. The only information I needed was down/distance and formation/motion. Usually the answer was "Dave". It was disgusting. If I knew what was coming, I'm sure every DC knew it.

So, I want to see the ball moving, and the offense having the goal of scoring rather than punting. There is risk in that, especially when you want to play fast. Mistakes can get you behind fast, and you can wear a defense out because you are either 3 and out or scoring quickly.

Knowing the nature of our fans, when we lose a game because we didn't gear down, I can hear them, myself included, asking why we didn't sit on the ball a little! Still, I think I can stomach a loss with offensive aggression rather than losses because we were afraid to score. And, I just want to look at an OSU offense, and regardless of what down/distance and formation/motion, I am surprised at what the play actually is. :)

I realize there are a host of other television providers who offer the Big10 network. Somehow I doubt I will be able to get DirecTv out and installed before kickoff if Dish decides to flip the switch off on that channel on Saturday, which they told me they are not going to do, but you never know until it happens.

And other than the two satellite providers, there are zero other options in the area of northern MI I will be in (BFE). No cable, no Verizon Fios, no AT&T, just off air antennas which as far as I am aware would have one heck of a time picking up the game.

I was trying to provide an update as to what the status was for those of us who are current Dish subscribers, not really looking for suggestions as to where else to get the channel. Thanks for the suggestion nonetheless.

As others said, that is a bit disappointing, but totally understandable. That preview was absolutely my favorite source for information on the next game. I loved all the detail provided on the matchups, and the extra tidbits of info thrown in - quirks, strange traditions, etc. Really, it was one stop shopping to get up to speed on the game before it started.

I wish I had more time, and more importantly the depth of knowledge, to help fill in this year with the previews. Even without the previews, I think we are in for an exciting year, with lots of new things to look forward to with our team. It is going to be a fun ride, and hopefully next year will be even better, not that I want to fast forward through this season. College football season is finally here, and it will be great to savor every week of it.
