Game Thread Ohio State 58, Northwestern 7 (final)

They didn't exactly dominate Duke statistically, but they did outproduce them my a significant margin in both yards and first downs.

Silly mistakes by both players and the coaching staff cost them that game.

Speaking of silly, I know how it sounds to say it; but Northwestern was caught looking ahead. They did not look like their heads were in the game at all.

Normally, after a team gets caught looking ahead they go out and play well for at least a quarter or a half. This kind of loss can be utterly demoralizing though.

And with Tressel playing on the '04 angle in the locker room right after the UW game, it is very doubtful that the Buckeyes are going to be flat.

I think this one will get ugly fast and stays ugly until the clock strikes zero.

Yikes!
Outside of Bacher and Sutton, they lack play makers.
Sutton did not participate in the game against Duke.
His injury report ..
Injury update: Northwestern tailback Tyrell Sutton sprained an ankle in the second quarter of last week's victory over Nevada. He returned for just one play in the third quarter, and he'll be a game-time decision for this week's game against Duke.
Most likely he will be back in the line-up for the game against the Buckeyes.

All hopes of NU sneaking up on/catching OSU flat waved bye bye in 2004. JT has quietly put a little something extra on NU's ass the past two years after that debacle.

He would never blatantly try and run it up but I have a feeling the NU scores will be significantly higher than the average when people go back and review the JT era in the future.

I'm sure this has been brought up but after we beat NC State we then lost to Northwestern the next game... Eerily similar in ways. 1. We performed well on the road and won and 2. Have to play NW the next game after

However there is one difference.. it's in the shoe, and not at night... Bucks 38 NW 9

Disagree. Sutton will already take a pounding, I'm not going to risk my only other weapon against this defense. Bacher would get crushed repeatedly by Grant/Freeman in that approach.

Ding ding ding... remember how well Washington and thier speed guys did against our outside on D. This defense is faster than the 06 edition, an option would be a bad idea, unless you want to get both Bacher whacked by G/F and Little Animal crushing Sutton on the trail

Other difference: Wells + Saine/Wells vs. Ross + Hall + young Pittman

that and Todd Boeckman > Zwick..... atleast through 3 starts as a buckeye. Gosh I remember how bad that sucked losing to NW!!

Anyways NW doesn't have the weapons to run the option like Washington did. I think our team will only get better and better each and every week. Which means bad news for Northwestern.
