Game Thread Ohio State 6, Penn State 13 (Oct. 25)

Tough loss against a tough opponent. We made a crucial mistake in the 4th quarter and that'll usually decide games like this, as I said at the time.

Credit to Penn State. They made no such mistakes, and they capitalized on their opportunity. I hope they go all the way now.

i have never played organized football before, so i am hoping that somebody who has can answer this question for me.

is our OL truely as bad as they look or are we playing DL that are that much better than we are?

in my view, we lost this game because of our OL. On the fumble, Pryor had to bounce outside because our OL could not push forward a few yrds. On many of our 3 and shorts we were stopped because our OL could not move forward or hold blocks long enough to keep the lanes open.

again, is it that our OL is that bad or are they just matching up against DL's that make us look bad?

Sorry, it is a team game....you win and lose as a team.....there were a lot of breakdowns that were not TP's fault.....

Team loss, but Pryor will take this one to heart and learn. The future is still very bright. Proud to be a Buckeye not matter what the outcome. We held their offense to 13 points.

Man, the game was in hand before that fumble. TP has to keep his head up though. I am not giving up on this season, but I would really like to see the improvements in TP's throwing after he has a whole year to work with the coaches.

Another National game, another loss. This isn't going to help OSU's National rep. What happened to "Jim Tressel, big game hunter"? Besides Michigan 2006, he has lost every big game he's coached since Notre Dame.

There's conservative and there's just plain scared. You won't let the kid throw on 1st or 2nd down but you'll let him throw on 3rd and long when everyone in the country knows it's coming? Terrelle was playing well tonight and throwing the ball well. He was seeing the field. Fucking loosen the god damn noose a little and let him play for Christ's sake.

I wish the camera would have stayed off T.P. in the end when he was on the bench alone!
The kid is not alone here on this loss! A freshman quarterback his first true error in judgement which was critical,I'll agree but it was a tooth & nail game & he will learn from this if the media does not peck too hard at the kids confidence.
The thing is we all learn from our mistakes & I know he will. The poor kid is wearing his heart on his sleeve!
I cannot even imagine what he is thinking right now! Just think if you were him "how would you feel"?

100% agree another conservative play calling. Defense played great, but you think after these big stage melt downs someone would wake up and say wow we need to change something.

A big stage meltdown is 35-3, 41-14, 38-24 giving up 31 unanswered points. No one has held this PSU team to under 30 points this season. This is not a big stage meltdown. tOSU was in position to win this game and the ball bounced PSU's way. This was a hard fought game between both teams.

uh, well not to bash anyone but uh yeah there not very good. They cant sustain thier block on anyone. You notice that everytime tonight when beanie went by a block the defender was able to get seperation form the blocker. This is what made beanie mad all night

Well, I don't mean to be overly negative, but at the same time a degree of honesty is necessary upon losing a game like this in the 'Shoe. This may well be the most disappointing team since 1995 or so, given the pre-season expectations. I know we're starting a freshman QB (which, in and of itself is the result of disappointment), but there is no excuse for losing to USC by 33 points or to PSU at home. I find it hard to believe, particularly in light of last year's ass whipping we put on nearly the same PSU team, that we should have dropped this game. The OL has underperformed this season. The DL has underperformed this season. The backfield has underperformed this season. Special teams have been a disaster this season. The QB situation is what it is. The WRs have underperformed this season. The LBs have, at the very least, not improved. Frankly, this team has drastically regressed. I hope the Frosh remember tonight.

While the right side of the o-line did seem porous tonight, my bigger questions and concerns still focus on the play calling. When the o-line is struggling and the psu d is brining substantial pressure, where are the quick hits and the misdirection plays? i'm proud of the boys playing, but have concerns about our play calling.
