Ohio State 85, Tennessee 84 (final)

I have to admit, I went to bed in a downcast mood with the Buckeyes down 17 at the half to get my 7 hours in the land of nod. On waking up and seeing that they outscored the Vols 53-35 in the second half all I can say is ...

WOW!!

and I can't wait to see the DVR recording of the 2nd half

I just got up. Man, I'm still worn out. Why CBS wants those games that late is beyond me. The Bucks tipped at an unreal 10:19. That's for another thread though. Absolutely great second half. The first 5 minutes were amazing. Especially after SEC homer Vern said he didn't like the way the Bucks came out of the locker room! Astute observation buddy. Sandgk, enjoy it...:oh::io:

Ok, so I have to work tonight and the late tipoff allowed me to watch exactly 0 minutes before I left. I catch a glimpse of the score at 49-29 or something like that and I actually said out loud "Shit, now Tennessees going to complain about Oden when we come back from this one." My co-worker laughed and said "No way Ohio wins this one!"

First of all, I nearly smacked him for leaving off the State portion of our title. Secondly, I got 5 points in the spread for the second half and took our boys for the ride. This meaning if OSU came within 5 at the end I get the steak dinner on him. Easy friggin money! I have to admit I was nervous about our chances to actually win the game outright but I just knew we were going on a big run after that first half. The next time I was able to catch any of the game there were 5 minutes left and I think we were down 3 or 4. Winner, winner steak dinner! The last 3 minutes of that game left my co-worker speechless and a new, converted Ohio State Buckeye fan. I had to explain to him it wasnt really a fair bet since Buckeyes never die, but I'm taking the steak dinner anyway.:sneaky:

Now to all you Lemmings who jumped ship at halftime, you should be ashamed of yourselves! You should be banned from posting during the next game to punish you for losing faith! Never say die! :shake:

i was bummed out at half time, i really expected more from our guys. get up at 5am so i said to myself that if they didn't come out in the first 3 minutes of the 2nd half and light it up then i was going to bed. needless to say i was up until 1245 and i'm paying for it today but damn its worth it!!!!

You start to get the feeling that this team is destined to play on April 2nd. :wink2:

I have to admit, I honestly thought that they were probably going to lose last night (right before Lighty got fouled). After Lighty converted the 3 point play before the half, I started to think that we'll make this on interesting. Games like these have a way of making fools of us all, but have a way of making us act like giddy fools when it's all said and done. :oh:

I would like to officially apologize for giving up on this team after the first half. Matta said something to those guys at the half because the looked like a totally different team. Way to fight back and play your asses off in the second half guys!!! I won't doubt this team again. Also thanks for making it a lot easier to go into work this morning. I sure as hell didn't want to hear all those Vols fans giving me shit all day.

"Their ability to get to the foul line was pivotal,?? UT coach Bruce Pearl said. "They shot 29 free throws in the second half ? that?s like 58 in a game. It?s odd.??

Want some cheese with that whine?

"They've obviously got a grit," Pearl said, "they've got a resolve."

We played about as well in the first half, I think, as we can play," Tennessee coach Bruce Pearl said. "We're terribly disappointed. We've proven we can beat some of the best teams in the country. We've also proven we can come close to beating some of the best teams in the country."

I wouldn't be too hard on the guy. He's provided some good insight, and never talked down tOSU to my knowledge. As for the disparity in foul shots, I think he answered that himself in his interview. I believe he said that his team only had 4 2 point baskets in the second half. That's it in a nutshell, you aren't gonna get to the line much shooting threes almost every possession.

I heard that the Vols last shot wouldn't have counted anyway? Anyone confirm that it was after the clock?
