He shouldn't have. Total mistake in my opinion. Give the freshman all the stress and change the lineups accordingly. Nobody tonight is playing like they deserve to start for this team that I've seen. Gayle might be the only one playing decent defense but he cant shoot. Ugh

Yeah spot on. We've got the recruits. Player development and a general scheme seem to to be the culprit, which is why I watch every game lately comatose...I just know we're likely not winning unless the talent just goes off. Get a new coach and maybe we'll get better. Nowhere but up from here.

I don't think I've ever seen a team win so easily while throwing up so many long-range bricks. It was like Illinois was using the game to practice their threes and demonstrating that they still need a lot of work.

OPENING STATEMENT:
"I thought they played really well. We have a lot of things we need to clean up and do better. But give them credit. I thought Brad's group played really well."

ON NOT BEING ABLE TO GRAB MOMENTUM:
"I just didn't think we ever had the bite and fight we needed in the game. That's on me. That is my responsibility. We did not have it."

ON HOW HE WILL ADDRESS THAT:
We just did address it. We will address it in film. Yeah."

Until this season, I would agree. But being bottom of the conference gives not much room to get worse, and a lot of room to get better. We should never be in last place in our conference late January and the work product is flat out bad right now. I don't think any of us could expect a tourney run this year after losing Liddell and Branham. But after seeing that we do actually have some talented pieces, hard to justify the recent results, such is looking like the bottom quarter of the B1G and an NIT appearance. I don't think this season can possibly salvaged, but getting our new HC lined up could possibly help with upcoming recruiting classes. If I was a commit or recruit, I would be pretty skeptical of coming here right now and being coached by CH.

This season is shot.

Like I said last week, CH is not getting it done. This roster has no business being at the bottom of the conference. No excuse. Holtmann's resume coming into this season was middling at best. But this crap is inexcusable. I don't think he gets fired after this season, but if he doesn't, his seat should be scorching next year. And I mean next year needs to be real progress, not a return to middle of the B1G and an exit from the tourney in the first weekend.
