4-star Luther Muhammad sent out congrats to Holtmann, while also jumping in on the Micah Potter ‘THE’ debate.

Monday was a pretty good day for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Specifically, the basketball program. Earlier in the afternoon, Chris Holtmann’s program moved up a few spots in the AP Poll, cracking the top-15 once again. They’ll head into the Big Ten Tournament as the No. 13 team in the nation, and the No. 2-seed—which are both spectacular accomplishments.

But there was more good news. In the evening, the Big Ten issued their yearly awards. Holtmann took home Coach of the Year honors, while Keita Bates-Diop was named Player of the Year. Jae’ Sean Tate and Kaleb Wesson also picked up conference honors, too.

The awards got the attention of some commits on social media. Here’s a quick roundup of what they had to say.

The most active of the recruits was four-star guard Luther Muhammad. Muhammad, who hails from New Jersey, tweeted out his congrats for Holtmann’s well deserved honor. But the Hudson Catholic star wasn’t done yet on the social media front. After making his tweet to his future coach, he put the other three recruits from the 2018 class (Justin Ahrens, Duane Washington and Jaedon LeDee) on a tweet with a highlight reel from their respective prep careers.

Justin Ahrens also tweeted out the video, mentioning his fellow future teammates, too.

It’s a question of ‘The’

Keeping up with the theme of Twitter, as well as OSU basketball, current center Micah Potter reaffirmed that Ohio State was the one school that deserves the right to have ‘THE’ in front of its name.

Look... I love you and am proud of you. But there is only ONE school that deserves a capital T-H-E and that’s THE Ohio State University. ‍♂️ https://t.co/Eg8fMDkUSy

This stemmed after his brother, four-star 2019 defensive end Noah Potter, received an offer from Notre Dame—or as Noah put on Twitter, ‘THE’ Notre Dame. After big brother’s correction, Luther Muhammad was back at it again on the Twitter sticks.

Even though Notre Dame sent in their offer to the Mentor, Ohio product, things are shaping up to be a lost cause for the Fighting Irish. Fifteen predictions are already in for Noah, and all of them point to the Buckeyes as the program that he’ll commit to.

An Offer on the Horizon?

A couple weeks ago, the Under Armour Camp made a swing by Cleveland. There, three-star Cleveland St. Ignatius linebacker Tommy Eichenberg showed what he could do. The 2019 prospect’s performance was good enough to reel in more offers, with Minnesota being the latest one, according to 247sports.

While Ohio State hasn’t sent an offer, 247sports’ Bill Greene reported in his piece that Eichenberg and the Buckeye coaching staff have been in contact—which is a good sign. So far, nine schools have made offers for the No. 11 ranked prospect in Ohio’s 2019 recruiting cycle. On top of the Golden Gophers offer, which came through on Feb. 26, Purdue, Maryland and Iowa are the other Big Ten programs that are making a move on the LB.

It has been said many times before that Urban Meyer wants to recruit more in-state talent. Eichenberg is already a top-15 player in the state, and at his position of inside linebacker, he ranks No. 12. With the recent string of offers coming in, and another season coming up in the fall, there is potential Eichenberg to raise his stock. Will that be what it takes for OSU to send an offer towards the 6-foot-3 standout? Who knows. But with other programs making a move, the Buckeyes may have to act sooner rather than later if they want to be in contention for this St. Ignatius star.
