Ohio State looks like it added its goalie of the future in Sean Romeo, while adding another defenseman, Wyatt Ege.

Ohio State announced that they have added seven new players to the roster for the 2016-17 fall season, including two transfers who will be ineligible for the upcoming campaign as per NCAA transfer eligibility rules.

The headlines here are Wyatt Ege, a defenseman transfer from Alaska-Anchorage, and Sean Romeo, a goalie transfer from the University of Maine. Ege looks like a big get for the Buckeyes when he becomes eligible in 2017-18, as he put up four goals and nine assists and made the WCHA All-Rookie Team as a freshman last year.

Romeo looks to be the Buckeyes' goalie of the future as mainstays Matt Tomkins and Christian Frey head into their senior years in 2016-17. Both have been the entire goalie rotation for the last two-plus years and look to keep it that way until they graduate. However, once they're gone, there wasn't an immediate heir apparent on the roster. That now looks to be Romeo, who started 21 games as a freshman for Maine, posting a 3.04 goals against average and .902 save percentage. Neither is that great, but he certainly could improve over his freshman numbers in the softer Big Ten, coming from Hockey East.

In addition to those transfers, the Buckeyes also announced five more commitments who signed their letters of intent for the upcoming season.

Matt Miller, a defenseman from Youngstown of the USHL, comes in having put up seven goals and six assists last season. Gordi Myer, another defenseman, put up three goals and 15 assists for Green Bay of the USHL last year.

OSU added three forwards as well. Ronnie Hein, from Waterloo of the USHL, had 14 goals and 35 assists in 57 games last year, and looks to be a candidate to contribute early for the Buckeyes. Tanner Laczynski, from Chicago of the USHL, finished fourth in the USHL in scoring last season with 24 goals and 39 assists. He too, looks to provide an immediate impact for the Buckeyes. Lastly, there's the 5'10, 160-pound Sam McCormick out of Waterloo. He put up 57 points last season for Waterloo and Madison combined. He may need to fill out before contributing to OSU.
