The Ohio State University’s Men Rugby team has won again – standing at 4-0 in Big Ten Play.

This past weekend they broke the 70-point mark for the 3rd time this year. October 17th the Buckeyes traveled to Iowa City to hand the Hawkeyes a 71-14 loss.

It was a nice victory for the Buckeyes, certainly an expected one, with a couple statistical changes in the BTU. First – Taylor Hurff has moved up to # 2 in total points @ 68. Congratulations Taylor (as he remains @ #2 in conversions as well with 30). And John Walsh has appeared on the list for tries for the first time with 4 (His 4th coming this past weekend against the Hawkeyes). Congratulations John.

The Buckeyes would strike first against Iowa with Cua Santino (CPT) scoring a try. Then John Walsh delivering his 4th try of the season would score in the 6-min. mark. It would be 10-0 Buckeyes. Conversions on both would fail.

Ryan Skelly and Kyle O’Donnell would both add a try to close out the first half. The Buckeyes lead would be 31-7.

The 2nd half began as the first did. The Buckeyes were too strong, too fast, and too determined to falter. With an upcoming game against the BTU 2014 Champions Wisconsin next week there was no looking ahead in this game.

The Buckeyes would close out with another try from Ryan Skelly and one from Brandon Heidinger. The final score: OSU 71 Iowa 14.

This coming weekend the Buckeyes meet up with the BTU 2014 Champions Badgers of Wisconsin. The game begins @ 12:00 @ Fred Beekman Park.

Last weekend Wisconsin beat the Purdue Boilermakers 63-24. Similarly our Buckeyes beat Purdue 78-7. Understand this means nothing. I am simply building to a comparison. As we know in any sport – differences of victories from powerhouses against lesser teams carries countless scenarios. One powerhouse will deal with different scenarios – while another powerhouse will deal with completely “other” scenarios. So a range of victory against another opponent is simply numbers – nothing else. But – all the same – it is still nice to simply outline that our Buckeyes beat up on the Boilermakers with a little more of a punch.

Was Wisconsin looking ahead and simply got caught flat-footed? Perhaps?

We know that our Buckeyes against Iowa were not caught off guard. Their focus was Iowa. This is a testament of the team’s core principles and the focus the coaching staff generates.

Now it is Wisconsin.

The Badgers are 13th in the nation. Our Buckeyes are ranked at 15th. This upcoming weekend has BTU Championship implications. They have talent. There’s Matoko Noudehou, Sam Enereson & Dan Pattay just to mention a few.

So, want to have a good time? Want to watch a game that will carry strong Big 10 conclusions? Be at Fred Beekman Park @ 12:00 noon this coming Saturday. The Football team’s run for the Big 10 Championship is still a ways off. Our Rugby Club and their journey begins Saturday. This is a big game.

SEE YOU THERE! GO BUCKEYES!
