Some things that bring the line into question.

The downside...
  • The weather at game time is likely to be 34F - 38F with rain. Buckeye offense shot themselves repeatedly yesterday on a wet field with cold hands in rain/humid conditions. (Need to gear up to keep player core temperature up and especially to keep hands warm and dry on sidelines)
  • TSUN has out-performed many of the best computer models since the second half at Penn State. That claim is not a "fake news", they have indeed done better than predicted on both sides of the ball.
  • Watching their last three games, I have noticed many times that TSUN defenders have been targeting runner knees, thighs, and heads with their helmets.
  • There may be more to Fields health than we are told. Holding his wrist. Showing signs of back strain still. In yesterday's game, BP posters repeatedly asked why we weren't seeing a long ball.
  • The players and coaching staff showed signs of panic when the Pedsters scored twice quickly. Play-calling was crap. The O-line was getting worked and too many rushers were getting through to Fields or stopping runs in backfield.
  • Ohio State's punting has not been the strength is was in recent games.

The upside...
  • Ohio State may well be the most complete team in college football.
  • Ohio State's defensive line and secondary. Chase Young will be living in the TSUN backfield and that bubble screen of theirs is gonna give up at least 2 interceptions while Patterson runs for his life.
  • Potentially, their offense is a complete mismatch for TSUN, assuming that Fields is behind center.
  • If Fields is behind center, the TSUN secondary looked very soft against Indiana yesterday before the Indiana QB went down.
  • If Fields should go down, the TSUN defense also looks very vulnerable against the run.
  • The O line should play better because the TSUN D line is not of the quality they saw yesterday.
  • Every Buckeye knows what this game means.

I do not share the impression that TSUN is going to be a walkover.

What it could be in really bad weather conditions and with Field sidelined and a turnover margin of -1: Ohio State +1
What it could be in cold but relatively dry weather conditions and with Ohio State being Ohio State on both sides of the ball: Ohio State +21

My best guess: Ohio State +9

What worries me is even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while and they are finding a little mojo of late. I know they are going to be playing out of their minds so we just need to do what we do early and convert that energy into frustration and silence the crowd.

I am confident but I hope Day has this team prepared for plan A, B and C.
It’s why I wanted their season crushed by ND and leave them reeling. We are vulnerable in this game for a multitude of reasons some reasonable many ghosts in my closet. Take care of business.. emotion not needed no fights penalties.
