Game Thread Ohio State vs Oklahoma, 09/09/17 @ 7:30 ET (ABC)

What is the white building behind their on site pic.

I've never seen it before either, but considering it's on the Oval, I'm guessing a renovated library? What year was that done? I haven't been to the Oval since the nineties!

Quick aside...my freshman year they issued us some weird words with like an @-looking thing on it and you had to use the library to access it. I said, "What is this crap?" and never used my revolutionary "e-mail address". 1993.

Well good, I'm glad you've enjoyed it. Remember, we're all just fans and we have no control whatsoever over the outcomes of our favorite teams.

Alright now that it's Friday, I think I'll go ahead and make the prediction that OU wins 30-27 in overtime on a touchdown pass from Mayfield to Andrews. OU falls behind 24-10 in the fourth quarter, but Mayfield repeats his performance from Knoxville in 2015 and guides OU to another storming 4th quarter comeback that will forever live in Sooner Magic lore. OU then goes to overtime and wins on a touchdown pass after forcing OSU to settle for a field goal.

Okay, while the rest of you predict a blowout win for your team I'll make the prediction that OU wins a close one.

Quick question. Do you pleasure yourself by writing that crap?

I find you guys very funny but I think all fan bases are like yours. Some of you make great points about why Ohio state should win.
1) Urban Meyer is a great coach. This scared me the most since OU is 0-2 vs him in the 08 nations title game and last year and last year was a beat down. You guys let up and most sooner fans are thankful for that. I think Meyer will try and run the ball on counters and make a lot of crossing route behind our linebackers.

2) Ohio states dline is very very good enough said

3) talented players all over the field. Ohio states recruiting is incredible lately and this worries me a lot.
4) Ohio states a more balanced team

This is what I find funny

1) Indianas receivers are better than OUs. Cmon before the game was played not many even heard anything before the game about Indianas vaunted passing game. You made the Indiana qb look like JOe Montana. OU has the number 3 passing offense last season. We actually have more playmakers now than we did last year and the only one who was a playmaker was hurt for the game last year Westbrook.

2) Indianas qb more accurate than Mayfiel and we won't be able to place balls in tight spots like he did. Hello to watch our game vs UTEP there corners were covering pretty good our guys just made plays on perfect balls. MAyfield is the all time NCAA single season passing effeicency leader ( took that from Sam Bradford)

3) Ohio state will be able to pass at will. I feel that was our entire reason we lost to you guys last season our cbs were lost to start the season. As the season went on we gained experience and in our bowl game we really dominated on defense. You will see a much much improved pass rush and can play.

4) ohio state won't lose in the shoe at night.
OU and MAyfield actually play better on the road 9-0 he's never lost a true road game ever at OU.

Maybe I am wrong but I think a lot of what I said will come true Ohio state is going up against the best Oline the best qb the best te and the best overall group of receivers imo in the country. I admit the game will come down to being able to stop ohio states running game . This is the part that scare me to be honest. OUr young linebackers vs skilled playmakers. I think we do just enough to get. a win.

Except there’s no way Andrews wouldn’t be swarmed if we went to OT. If Andrews scored the game winning TD in overtime, I’d wear an OU jersey in your honor for a week straight.

I would take Simmie Cobbs over any OU receiver, and I'm not just saying that to rile up visiting fans. He's that good.

OK, let's take a look...

Not sure where anywhere has said IU's are btter than OU's, but Simmie Cobbs will be playing on Sundays in the near future and I'll bet a dollar-to-a-donut that he gets drafted before any of the OU receivers do.

Lagow is fairly under-rated but simply played out of his mind for a half, as did his entire WR corps (not just Cobbs). No one in their right minds is comparing him with Mayfield. Still, Mayfield's inflated stats come by playing in a conference which flat out refuses to play pass defense. When he faced the one defense that played pass defense (and a defense which was very green in the secondary at that, returning one starter) his passer rating was almost 55 points below his next lowest rating (120.58 against us, vs. 174.95 against Houston). He's a great QB, but he's no Joe Montana/Tom Brady clone.

3) Ohio state will be able to pass at will. I feel that was our entire reason we lost to you guys last season our cbs were lost to start the season. As the season went on we gained experience and in our bowl game we really dominated on defense. You will see a much much improved pass rush and can play.
And your defense will see an offense much improved over the one that lit it up for 38 offensive points last year.

4) ohio state won't lose in the shoe at night.
OU and MAyfield actually play better on the road 9-0 he's never lost a true road game ever at OU.
Those nine "true" road games: TCU, TTU, Iowa State, WVU, Tennessee, Kansas St, Kansas, Baylor, Oklahoma St. Not a decent defense in the entire lot.

Well shit, then. Why even bother to show up?

Why thank you. So glad we could be of service.

Bear in mind that the parts that you find funny were, for the most part, views of a small minority here. But go ahead and generalize. Whatever.

Agree with a lot of what you say...

Ohio state is going up against the best Oline

Possibly

the best qb

Possibly

the best te

Possibly

But this is what I find funny:

and the best overall group of receivers imo in the country.

I don't know if you're being ridiculous on purpose. If so; well done.

Where the hell is this "OU HAS THE BEST RECEIVERS IN THE COUNTRY!" Logic coming from

Badet caught 31 passes at Kentucky last year.......Andrews (TE) caught 31 the next best 2 caught 21 and 18 balls for OU last year. Not exactly a group who lit the world on fire or have proven very much.

If these morons actually think they aren't going to miss Westbrook and his 80/1524/17 Line at all they are wildly delusional.

Well Mojo, they are passionate fans and even I am obviously biased in favor of my Sooners before they play in a big game.

At least their predictions are not as bizarre as OSU claiming the 1945 national championship. (Oklahoma State that is.)
