Game Thread Ohio State vs Penn State, 10/28/17 @ 3:30 ET (FOX)

My concerns:

PSU offense:
-Barkley catching the ball in the middle of the field (ala Flowers for OU)
-Brady Quinn-esque jump balls. PSU WRs always seem to have a knack for catching those
-McSorley scrambling....if you get a chance, take his ass down
-If Barkley does get the edge and it is 1v1 with a safety.....angles and tackling have to be good

OSU offense:
-no turnovers
-don't let one guy beat you like they did with Sickells last year. If an OL can't handle his man 1v1 (ala Prince last year), give him some damn help. Don't hang him out to dry again and again
-keep doing what is working

ST:
-Kick coverage and kick protection

This is as close as I’ve felt to the magic created in 2014. Last year, the feeling after closing out the scUM game was amazing, but I never felt confident about that team going toe-to-toe with Clemson. I definitely kept expectations realistic about where the team stood. I thought they had a great run, but ultimately there was a dark cloud looming.

Things are humming right now. It just has that spark to it, something intangible. There are definitely problems in certain areas, but they seem irrelevant to the mission this team is on. It’s a ‘go for the throat’ mentality that hasn’t been flowing since Bama fell and a Championship coming back to Columbus felt inevitable.

This is JT’s finale and I think he is sick of the talking and questioning, ready to put all the chips on the table and go out swinging. I believe we will see him lay it all on the line during this last stretch. This is not your ordinary young man/QB just trying to finish his last year quickly. He has a bucket list item to scratch off and this is his only shot at it, so I think we’ve been seeing it set in motion over the last few games.

You have to think things became very real for him after the OU loss and the chatter about his place as the starting QB took place. I think he took it to heart and realized this is it. There is no more time left to get it right.

I will not be surprised to see him holding the trophy at the end of the year. His lumps and downfalls, ability to rise above it, instilling his pride in a championship team that he couldn’t lead on the field, all the scrutiny and media blasts while staying composed and coming back to put up ridiculous numbers after being ridiculed. There isn’t a player in the league more deserving of silencing the doubters and kissing that trophy at the end of the season. Not one.

The fire, aura, the Last Dragon glow, whatever you want to call it. The captain has his squad exuding it right now and it’s the first time I’ve seen it since Kosta was bowling defenders over in spirit through Mike Bennett.

Here's JT's 2014 6 game run before MSU compared to JT's run this year. I agree Telekinesis I get that same 2014 feeling when we went on that 6 game run before we got MSU. I had that unshakable feeling that this was actually the QB JT was and not the one who struggled at home vs Tech that year.

2014: He was 121 of 178 (68%) for 1522 yards and 22 TD's and 3 INT

2017: He was 99 of 137 (72%) for 1351 yards and 18 TD's and 0 INT

About equal TD's (especially if we had one more game to make it equal), he's more accurate, throwing for more yards per contest, and he's making less mistakes.

You also have to remember how many touch passes he did in 2014 compared to now. For the most part his throwing this year are actually the result of throwing the ball as a normal QB would as well.
