OL Andrew Norwell (All-Pro)

Norwell suffered a season-ending injury during the fourth week of the football season Sept. 18 in a game against Columbus DeSales.

After breaking his tibia just above his left ankle, Norwell had corrective surgery Sept. 21 and has been in rehabilitation ever since.

Norwell, standing at 6-foot-7 and weighing in at 275-pounds, is committed to the Ohio State University football program.

Last winter, Norwell averaged 8.4 points and 7.2 rebounds a game as Anderson finished at 12-6.

"Norwell's a captain and he was a main cog in what we did," Brandy added. "Not only is it going to change our lineup but it will also change the way we play."

11. ANDREW NORWELL

Cincinnati Anderson, OL, 6-7, 275

Highlights: All-state as a junior.

Coach Jeffrey Giesting: ?Andrew is the best lineman to ever come out of Anderson High School. He was all-state as a junior and was having a tremendous senior year when he suffered a broken ankle during the fourth game of the year. He continued to be a team leader even though he could not play, and our team was a region finalist and finished 12-1. He is a dominating run blocker who finishes his blocks and has a tough, physical style of play.?

Committed: Ohio State.

College football: Decision time for recruits
OSU hopes to add two more for class of 20
Wednesday, February 3, 2010 3:05 AM
By Tim May

...
Andrew Norwell doesn't need more time. Norwell, of Cincinnati Anderson, is the consensus No. 1 offensive line prospect in Ohio and the ninth best tackle prospect nationally according to Rivals.com. He committed to Ohio State a year ago Thursday.

"Ohio State was my No. 1 choice, and that's the only place I could see myself going," Norwell said. "So I decided to go ahead and commit."
Asked whether he missed out on publicity in the process, he said, "I'm not really that big into all that stuff, so, no."

But he's an example of what's often overlooked in the final hectic days of the recruiting process. Ohio State coach Jim Tressel and his staff already had the bulk of their 2010 class stocked headed into the final week.

Trying year ends with signature for Norwell

A re-hash of the video linked above... With the time off due to injury (broken leg), Norwell has developed quite a bit & is looking noticeably bigger (in a good way)... He doesn't care about position & will play wherever will get him on the field the soonest...

I have heard a TON of good things coming from camp on Norwell. Sound like he is definitely going to see the field. Not a surprise at all, but encouraging to hear nontheless with the news on Hall.

Hall?s Misfortune Opens Door for Norwell
By Brandon Castel

COLUMBUS ? Locked up in a man-to-man battle with fellow freshman David Durham, offensive tackle Andrew Norwell lost his helmet but not his intensity.

With his head protection lying on the Turf, Norwell?s long hair dangled in his face as he continued to battle with Durham long after the whistle. It got so physical during one of the fall practices that the two freshmen almost came to blows right there on the field.

But that?s Andrew Norwell in a nutshell, and it?s that kind of fervor that earned him a fist-pump and a pat on the butt from upperclassmen Michael Brewster and Mike Adams as he came off the practice field.

?He?s very aggressive, really tries to get after defenders and if he gets you going backward he?s going to keep driving,? senior guard Bryant Browning said of the young lineman.

?He?s working hard at learning his playbook and really soaking everything up and playing hard.?

NORWELL COULD SEE SOME PT; BATTLE STILL GOING ON AT LT
By Lee Hudnell

COLUMBUS — Ohio State freshman offensive tackle Andrew Norwell may be getting on the field sooner rather than later.

With the announcement that sophomore tackle Marcus Hall will be red-shirting in 2010 (academics), Norwell has been pushed up to the two-deep at right tackle, and could see some action behind junior J.B. Shugarts as early as the season opener against Marshall on September 2.

The 6-foot-5, 310 pounder from Cincinnati has been catching the eyes of not only his coaches, but his teammates, as well.

"Norwell's been doing really well," OSU senior offensive guard Justin Boren said. "I've been impressed with the way he's playing. Hopefully if he keeps on improving he'll compete for some playing time."
