OL/DL Ivon Blackman (Walk-on)

Sorry for the thread bump on such an easy question...

Is Blackman a Guard or a Tackle?

Just asking because if there is part of the OSU team I really dont follow, it's definitely the OL.

Is Blackman/Norwell filling in for Mike Adams suspension....?

At 6' 3" I would say Blackman would play guard.

And my guess on the Adams situation would be Norwell and Hall filling in for Adams.

  • Ivon Blackman began his college career at Robert Morris in Pittsburgh before transferring to Ohio State. Although he hasn’t earned the starting spot he coveted — nor a scholarship — he is savoring his time as a Buckeye. Thanks to recent Ohio State blowouts, Blackman has seen extensive playing time lately at right guard.

Affable and quick to laugh, Blackman is among the more popular players among his teammates. He’s also a model student, carrying a 3.2 grade-point average, and is considering applying for law school.

Question: You’re a three-time OSU scholar-athlete and a two-time academic all-Big Ten honoree. How much does that mean to you?

Answer: Academics are definitely important. Football is going to be over with for everybody at some point, (so) why waste the time that we’re here? Take advantage of it. That’s going to take care of me for a way longer time than football could.

Q: What’s it been like to be a backup when I’m sure you wish you started?

A: You come to Ohio State and obviously want to play and start and have a great career and be remembered the way the greats are. But as things develop, you have to play the role that’s given to you and that you’ve earned. If that’s as a backup, then so be it. If my number is called, I’m ready and I’ll go out there and perform.

Q: You started your career at Robert Morris. Why did you transfer to Ohio State?
