OL Josh Kerr (official thread)

I'm sure that the grassy board is outraged over the fact that their admissions policy prevented them from getting an Ohio player on the team, and that their future recruiting efforts in Ohio will be negatively affected by this!

(note: sarcasm font for inversion of the Dajuan Morgan scenario)

Absolutely NO way that this kid was let go because he didn't qualify. You can't tell me that Cryami players are intellectually superior to those at other big programs. My guess is that Kerr wasn't as good as the coaches thought, and they cut him loose based on a technicality. If he was really special, they would have found a way for him to "pass."

Umm... JOHN Kerr was in Columbus last season, and he's been practicing with the LBs for for a while now. He's the one who transferred in from Indiana after leading the Big Ten in tackles as a true freshman. JOSH Kerr is the guy who this thread's about. He's an OL, and John's younger brother.

John Kerr is not only on the team but is practicing with the linebackers. He is wearing #52. The rich keep getting richer. He adds even more depth to an already elite group. I haven't seen Josh though.
:topic:Yeah, at the autograph session, not alot of people knew about the kid, but I stepped up right away to get his aignaure on my Football. Once Hawk, Schlegal, and Carpenter grad out. I believe we will be left with Freeman, DAndrea, Kerr, Lauriniaitis, Lennix. Kerr has a strong chance of making starting squad next year if eh keeps busting his ass.

Josh Kerr Cited in HH Post of Florida Schools Recruiting Attrition

Thought this should be linked in here. The article mentions Josh Kerr and offers the following concerning the rationale for Josh not staying with Miami

Take Miami and Josh Kerr. A year ago, Miami counted Kerr, an offensive lineman from Strongsville, Ohio, among its incoming class. At 6 feet 4 and 275 pounds, Kerr was considered one of the best offensive linemen in Ohio. UM outfought Ohio State for his signature.

He was a full academic qualifier, but sometime after signing day, Miami asked him to delay enrolling at UM until January 2005. Kerr said no. Miami gave him a release, though it's unclear whether Kerr asked for it.

Through UM spokesman Rick Korch, Miami coaches said they had no idea what became of their former recruit. A reporter for the Cleveland Plain Dealer said Kerr's mother, Susan, told the paper in the spring that Josh was to enroll this year at Ohio State, where older brother John is a Buckeyes linebacker. Phone calls to Kerr's home in Ohio were not returned.
The implication is that Miami had more recruits than roster spots. Which differs from early opining on Josh's mental acuity. It is still not clear from hte info in this thread (or the article excerpt above) if Josh is destined to join his brother in Scarlet & Grey.

Don't forget Chad Hoobler and Curtis Terry. I suspect Hoobler will be the starting middle linebacker in '06. With Homan and hopefully Gibson and Moeller that will be a pretty formidable LB unit, not to mention anyone else we might get in this class(McCarthy, Bowman, etc.)

Not sure if Kerr would play much with the talent being assembled up front but if he's willing to walk on I say why not.
