OL Justin Boren (Official Thread)

According to his father (former Wolverine Mike Boren), Justin is still torn between Ohio State and Michigan, but is currently leaning toward TSUN. Mr. Boren says that he is not bitter toward Ohio State, and would approve of Justin's decision should he decide to go there. In fact, Mr. Boren said that it would be nice to have his son so close to home.

An excellent, in-depth article, well worth reading.

Well, if he is only "learning" towards Michigan right after meeting with Bo Schembechler, and his father would support a decision to attend Ohio State and in fact would like have his son closer to home, then I think we're still very, very much in the thick of things...

not to nitpick, but isn't Bo an illegal contact. We can't send Eddie George or Archie to meet a recruit. Unless they met on campus I guess that would be ok, but not for the purpose of recruiting.
Bo would definitely qualify as a friend of the family...one of those "inadvertent" meetings would be simple to arrange. I'm thinking Bo still has some role in UM also.

Everything I'm reading on this guy suggests that despite leaning towards UM he is really struggling with his decision. Living so close to OSU is a huge bonus for us, and reportedly the coaching staff has been having some luck making this a hard decision (not necessarily in a bad way).

Hopefully Nevada can shed some light on his perception of the situation, as it would be much more convincing coming from him. I'm extremely glad that Dave Biddle included the quote that his dad also thought he was a lock to OSU. We appreciate all of your input, but its nice for once to prove to the haters that there is no way to be right all of the time.

While it would be nice if he came here, there is no reason to hate the guy for following his family heritage. I wish him luck whereever he goes.

Dave Biddle brought up an interesting (hypothetical) point on BN saying that TJ Downing, whose father played at UM, would be a perfect person to call Justin. Is that legal?

Highly doubt it. Downing is a current player...my understanding is that the only time current players can have direct interaction with recruits is when the recruits are on visits.

if Dad was wrong, I don't feel quite so badly now.....LOL.....

No doubt Nevada. Nothing for you to feel badly about at all. If in fact he does go to scUM, he changed his mind, nothing you can do about that.

I have a bad feeling about Boren's chances of being a Buckeye.

Well, I would guess if rumors are rampant on o-zone that he committed to scUM and his high school coach won't comment to Alan, I'd say the rumors are probably true. If that's the decision he made, then I hope he does well there (except against us).
