Old News but 'Tek Resigns with the Sox...

Sitting around in my underwear....
What a great Christmas present for all the Sox fans around the nation.

Theo Epstein's opening comments from Varitek's presser:

“We could not be happier. It’s not every day that you’re lucky enough to find a player who embodies everything you want your franchise to be. And when you’re lucky enough to have that player, you don’t let him get away. And you lock him up for as long as you can and you make him the rock of your franchise. Jason has been the leader here for a long time. We are lucky to have a lot of leaders -- Tim Wakefield is here supporting Jason today. Jason is a special guy in the clubhouse and has had an instrumental role for a long time here and will for a long time to come. We all know he’s a leader, but we actually have a little bit of a surprise here today. We are going to formalize that role for Jason, and make you (to Jason) the team captain.”

I think they needed to sign Varitek more than Pedro.

No argument here. JV is the heart and soul of the Red Sox.

He's probably a little overpaid at 4 years and $10 million per, but if the front office is going to splurge a little, they picked the right guy.

I'm pretty sure he has "Lifetime On the House" status.

And to think he's only 31 years old....

Sears,

Long time no hear. I see that you moved from Paulding to Powell. How you liking it there?

Good to see you posting.

I haven't had much time to post lately with work being so hectic and the holidays. I'm enjoying Columbus. I even met up with Turd a few weeks ago downtown. What a trip!!!

I miss all the old regulars from the GD board at Bucknuts, but I see that you're doing your part to bring some of that old magic over here. Hopefully it'll take it off.

Ah reminiscing about the good 'ol days.....
