OSU versus USC

Ok so I was curious how these two program would stack up over the last 5 or 6 years. If OSU wins the championship this year, would OSU have a stronger dynasty than USC over the past 5-6 years, I don't know all the stats, but I am sure some of you do. Would love to get some feedback. Part of this is driven by being tired of hearing how dominant USC has been and bleieving that if we win it this year we might actually be more dominant. Just curious

Hrm... Well since the BCS came USC has one NC and one kind-of-NC that they somehow managed to steal from LSU. OSU has one, and potentially a second one. Both have been to several BCS bowls and won. Personally, I may be a little biased but I think if OSU wins the NC this year they would be more of a dynasty than USC, however, both programs are strong and will continue to be so for a while.

All of that winning really does make the top recruits give your program a good hard look :)

I think that 2 NCs are better than 1.5, so if we win on the 8th, we're the better of the two. I'm positive, however, that the media would say just the opposite, citing USC's long winning streak (insert Pac-10 joke here) and 3 Heisman trophy winners.

I just know it's a good thing for USC that we aren't playing them this year--let's just say that with every QB on the schedule throwing all over #28 (CB for USC, whose name I don't know) and Lady Quinn and UCLA's similarly immobile QB running all over USC's defense, Troy would have an absolute field day. We'd put up 35 easy on them.

I think no one can touch USC's run over the past five years, regardless of who wins the BCS title game this year. If you go solely by BCS titles won, then yes, OSU is right up there and possibly in the lead. But if you go by consistency of being at the top, OSU has been tremendous, but each of USC's "down years" has been a narrow title game miss, and that's a damn impressive record that nobody matches.

Or putting it in general terms, I'm of the opinion that in most years, there's not much difference between any of the top 5 or so teams. And, along with their one, one-and-half, or two championships (depending on your personal viewpoint), USC's been there every time, as nobody else has done.

I don't dispute that they're the leader, just that it's not the runaway it was made out to be. And, I'm not sure they're really the #8 team in the land this year. Lose to Michigan and they should be top 20, but not top 15 if you ask me. Win, and I think they should remain near 8 - although, they'll assuredly move up to the 5 neighborhood. I say this because having seen them play a few times this year, I personally think they're over rated at the moment.

Maybe for now, but if we win and USC loses in the coming weeks, OSU takes the top spot by a nose: 1 more BCS title outweighs our 1 mere top-20 finish. USC can have the title of "rankings darling", but it takes multiple titles to lay claim to a "dynasty".

I think that given their overal record is so close, OSU would be undefeated in BCS games, been in 2 NC games and won two(assuming they win), Usc in two and lost one, Beat three number 2 in one season that OSU seems to have an edge. I know it is splitting some hairs, but it is odd that eveyone assumes USc is so dominant, when they are probably less dominant that OSU, The thing that everyone says that annoys me is USC going for thrid straight NC last year, and then this year trying for fourth straight NC game, when the year that LSU was forgotten by everyone USC was not in the title game and really did not win the title. All that to say I believe OSU has been as dominant or more dominant between the two programs
