OSU's huge recruiting weekend

Being Ohio State, if we land a class like that, ESPN will be sniffing every crotch and crevice in Columbus looking for a story as to how we pulled it off. You can bank on that.

And it'll be great to see them suffer when they dig and dig and dig and all they find is the buried remnants of what used to be their reputation as a news source.

No doubt about the second and third years of O'brien days. If I remember right though, those were Scoonie and Redd days. after that program was going downwards. I didn't see any hope in the team that played for him in his last year.

I couldn't agree more with the excitement though. It's good to see bucks do well in basketball. With this type of the class...we can make noise next year.

Also, someone stole my ID.... Who is this BuckeyePride85? Not an original for sure!
redd was gone after the 00 season, he nor scoonie were on either two of the championship teams. in all reality if you ate taking about elite teams in the conference the last 6 or 7 years we are one of the 4 or so teams (ill, msu, wisc)

IF I'm not mistaken (don 't think I am) Lighty does not play AAU ball on the Spice team. I believe he played for a Cleveland AAU team. The three that play togeather for Spiece are Cook, Conley & Oden. Hope this helps clear up the picture. Most insiders think tOSU lead's for Lighty's services. If Conley actually was recruiting for tOSU this weekend the odd's of a class that consists of Conley, Lighty, Cook& Oden just shot up over 50% (for tOSU to land all of them) IMHO.

More mistakes... changing it above. You gotta love waht is happening for tOSU bball... almost all of these 06 guys (and one from 07) are all tied to Spiece or wanting to play against their spiece opponent. Imagine what happens after we start winning big10 titles and then some...

I just wanted to make sure we had a place to rave about the exciting moves in the bball program, rather than rambling in each of the recruit threads.

Spiece lost to Memphis Pump and Run in the Finals by around 8 or 9. Great win for Memphis, Spiece just ran out of gas, Oden and Conley were dead tired and Conley got injured during a crucial moment in the 2nd half down 4 with 4 mins to go. When he returned after getting some treatment they were down 8 with 2 mins to go. I expect these two teams to clash again at the Adidas May Classic next month this rivalry is like the Bulls and the Knicks since Memphis has finally beat them. Oden had one of the best dunks I have ever seen on Thaddues Young off a spin move going baseline.

Recruiting News and Notes...

Jon Scheyer - is nothing but a taller JJ Redick, he was held to about 7 pts versus Spieces man 2 man defense. He cannot create his own shot at all.

Thaddues Young - 6'9, 3/4 with the best handle I have seen for someone that size, he also has a smooth stroke from 3. This guy is a BEAST, I would go so far as to say the #2 prospect behind Oden with the potential he has.

After this weekends tourney I would be shocked if Conley committed to Wake Forest, I believe Skip has seen the writing on the wall and moved on. I also would not be surprised if he just cancelled his visit all together and decided.2006 #1 Oden has come out from my understanding and named OSU his #1 school also 2007 #6 Eric Gordon has named OSU his leader. I saw Conley and Cook doing alot of recruiting and ALOT of other top prosepcts who were friends with Conley have begun to talk OSU, the most important being 2006 #7 Thaddues Young. Matta has been on Young alot and he knew of Conleys possible committment and after the game they talked for a while even exchanged numbers. I could realistically see Matta having...

PG - Mike Conley # 19
SG - Dave Lighty # 16
SF - Daequan Cook # 8
C- Greg Oden #1
PF- some other bluechip guy who undoubtably will commit after Conley. ( Maybe Young or some other big name guy)

There is a huge meltdown on that thread and another one...

Basically they're going nuts first of all over losing probably conley and oden...

And then they started the obligatory "OSU must be cheating" since they don't feel like realizing all of these players play on the same team. They don't understand how a football school can land all of the top players instantly, despite Matta's reputation.

Apparently nevadabuck has said the NBA age limit is a done deal according to pretty much every agent he's talked to...

Has he happened to talk with Jermaine O'Neal lately? Seriously, though.... I REALLY hope they put this rule into place. It'd be so much better for both the NBA and for NCAA basketball.

And to get back on topic, c'mon down guys......
