In the mean time, the four-star prospect maintains a strong interest level in the Buckeyes.
"Definitely the offense," he said, when asked what has him intrigued by Ohio State. "When I saw Dwayne Haskins, when I saw him play I thought, 'oh that could be me right there'."
Carter operates a very pass-heavy offense at Kirby High and estimates they will throw the football about 40 times per game. While watching Haskins intrigued him about the Buckeyes, he actually views himself closer to a current Buckeye signal caller in terms of his style of play.
"I really like to sit in the pocket and make throws," he explained. "I'm really not too quick to take off. That's something that Justin Fields can do. If I gotta (run), I will, but I want to throw it."
Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor, Florida State, LSU, Michigan, and Tennessee are among Carter's early offers and he has a group of schools that he has been communicating with pretty regularly.
"I've been talking to Kansas, Arizona State I talk to them like every day, Texas A&M, Florida State, Virginia Tech called my coach a few weeks ago," he stated.
He also has a handful of programs that he says he wants to prioritize for visits once things pick back up again.
"O-State is definitely one," he said. "Florida, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Arizona State."
