Watson, Crick & A Twist
The headline says: Probably Not The Best Christmas Decorating Idea
I'm not sure that's fair.
the picture says it all ....

judging by the locals reaction, I'd say it was damned convincing at least.

Hi Sweetheart, I am sorry about getting into an argument about putting up the Christmas lights. I guess that sometimes I feel like you are pushing me too hard when you want something. I realize that I was wrong and I am apologizing for being such a hard-headed guy.
All I want is for you to be happy and be able to enjoy the holiday season. Nothing brightens the Christmas spirit like Christmas lights!
I took the time to hang the lights for you today and now I will be off to the golf course.
Again, I am very sorry for the way I acted yesterday. I'll be home later.

Love you??

BTW, any Columbus-area residents ever check out the two brothers-in-law's displays that used to be on Paw Paw Road near Tamarack?

We took bunches of people out there for years. They were about as over the top as the house in this pic.

I grew up just on the other side of northland highschool from them. them and all the houses on mablecanyon from tamark circle to 161 used to use the same white lights on the trees. havent been over there in awhile, I wonder if those brothers still decorate.

When we used to go was in the early 90's. At that time, they had donation boxes out for Children's Hospital and had to use a rent-a-cop to direct traffic. You could see the glow from the houses in the sky before you turned the corner. The two dueling in-laws had everything--stuff like an 8-foot high ferris wheel with dolls in it, trains, animated lights, just tons of stuff. I'm pretty sure some of their neighbors weren't loving on it too much, with all the congestion and people, but I loved going there. I never saw anyone disrespecting the property or being rude. People would walk around with a child-like attitude of wonder. It was almost reverent. And quiet, with all the crowds, I remember a stillness. Always regretted not having video of it.

And, yeah, one year we went and it seemed reduced in scale, and I think we did go back after that--mid-90s maybe--and it was gone. I don't know if one or both moved away, got too old or ill, or just got tired of whichever neighbors were grinches about the whole thing.

Great memory, tho'--lots of nice times with my daughter, her friends, even her elementary school teacher tagged along one year. :)
