Palm with wi-fi connection.

RCollett

Gazillion!
I just got a Palm TX for Christmas and I am having some trouble connecting it at school. I guess they use some sort of a web page encryption or verification system that has a pop up window that I put my user name a password in. The IT department told me that the palm software does not support this? Does anyone know if there is software I can download to get it to work?

Thanks

to the best of my knowledge, Palm doesn't make anything that supports secure sites because of the relative insecurity of wifi on handhelds.

The Palm TX is great, I have one myself and love it. Unfortunately, like IAB said, it does not support what you are talking about.

Edit: I probably shouldn't have, but I was assuming that you meant the logon was a windows-type authentication pop-up as opposed to j-script* or something else.

edit2: *apparently the j-script word is evil here. :paranoid:

It really depends on the authentication system. For example the CMH airport requires that, after you connect, you open a web browser and agree to a terms of service page, which then authenticates you to their network. It worked fine on my TX last week.

Mine will connect to the network, get an IP address, but then it ties to go to a login page (the classic Windows username and password window) but the page never loads.

I guess I was just wondering if their was some random software or patch floating around out there that was created to bypass this problem. I love the TX, but just wish I could get this to work at school.
