People to Punch, Pet Peeves, and General Vexations (mega-merge)

Bad Beats on ESPN?
I had to Google it, it's not a show I'd heard of.

Gambling means nothing to me, I just get resentful when ESPN or Fox has a 2 plus hour pregame and rather than talk about any of the 170 scholarship athletes-all of whom have a story- it's some pedo looking asswipe talking about taking Ole Miss and the points...I'm just an aging man who yells at clouds

Today on my way home from work I stopped at the grocery store and as I was walking to get a basket a couple of women were right behind me talking to each other. I grabbed my basket from the stack and started through the door. As I was entering the store I heard a sarcastic "Thanks!" from one of them. Did these two hos think that I was going to be a gentleman and extract their basket for them, bow at their feet and say "You first madams!"?

What do you call them, shopping carts? For some reason when I was a kid we called them baskets. Must have been a California thing.

It doesn't make a difference for your story. They both fit.
1. Are you sure they were talking to you?
2. Are you sure you didn't cut them off?
3. Most importantly: It's easy to be upset if you want to be upset. It's also to not be upset if you don't want to be upset. If they're upset about it, they WANT to be upset about it.
4. And even more importantly than that: Do you really care?

Not really but it was something to post in this thread  They were right behind me and as I was dislodging my cart from the stack they were standing right behind me and they was no one else around. I'll be honest though, I have a history of zoning out, ignoring etiquette and putting my foot in my mouth out in public. There used to be a store in the mall that sold kitchen stuff and I bought some knives there back in like 1997. I went back in 2004 and the same girl that sold me the knives was still there. I commented that she must be the owner and she said no, I just work here. I thought out loud and said something to the affect of "why would someone work here for so many years if they weren't the owner?". I hurt her feelings and there has been many such cases. I've never been officially diagnosed but I'm likely an aspie

Here's an old story from my life and is very typical and has repeated itself numerous times. The very first date I went on I was 14 and I took a girl to see National Lampoons Vacation. The girl was way out of my league and would eventually go on to become the homecoming queen but this was the summer between 8th and 9th grade and we'd known each other for a while. We get to our seats and she says she wants popcorn. I'm just like "oh" and don't get the hint. She finally says that she's going to go get some and she gets up and goes to the concession stand. When she was gone an older man sitting behind me taps my shoulder and says "you missed your cue". I had no idea what he meant at the time. So she comes back and I'm kind of slouched in my seat and she has to get past me to get to hers. I had to uncross my legs and when I did I inadvertently kicked the bucket of popcorn out of her hands and i can still to this day see that bucket spinning in the air and popcorn littering two rows of seats.
