Reds fans who tour the new Pete Rose exhibit on Opening Day might also see the all-time hit king at the game.
Rose, banned from baseball in 1989, is planning to attend his first Opening Day and see his first game at Great American Ball Park. Rose bought two tickets for the April 2 opener, Bob Castellini Jr., Reds Hall of Fame and Museum president, said late Tuesday.
Rose, who lives in Los Angeles, had announced that he would be back for Opening Day during a private party Tuesday night for the new "Pete: The Exhibit" in the Reds Hall of Fame

Does anybody else believe that there were surely a few occasions that he actually bet on the Reds to lose? Of all the things he is slowly admitting to (yes I bet on baseball, but never on the Reds........OK, I did bet on the Reds, but it was to win every night), the one thing he will NEVER fess up to is if he ever bet on the Reds to lose. However you would likely have a pretty tough time finding a bookie to take that bet knowing that Petey could have a direct influence on the outcome.
As a diehard Reds fan, I had been a Rose apologist for some time, but this guy just becomes more and more of a scumbag as time goes on.

I really don't think he would have ever bet against his own team. I think part of it is as was brought up it would be hard to find a bookie who would take that action since Rose could have influenced the game in order to lose at any point.
In the story is says he doesnt care about getting into the Hall,,,,,but wants to manage again. I don't see that ever happening, there would be way to many questions for any team that hired him.
My personal feeling is that based on his on the feild stuff he should be in the hall, as there are plenty of other scumbags in the hall. But I dont thing he should ever be alloowed to manage or anything like that again.

I don't think intelligence, restraint, or honesty are traits for selection to the hall. I don't really care if he bet on where Shotzie would shit, he needs to be in the hall. JMHO...

Yeah, but integrity is an important factor in Hall selection. Rose has clearly showed he had little and even more importantly he didn't respect the integrity of the game by betting on it. His on the field accomplishments are easily worthy of induction into the Hall, but the fact that he placed the integrity of the game in jeopardy is an extreme offense at the least. He claims he never bet on his team to lose, but his track record of telling lie after lie and the accounts of his gambling antics lead me to believe he's full of crap (once again).
Not allowing Rose in the Hall has done no damage to the agme. Giving him a free pass after all of his lies to MLB and the fans, could undoubtedly damage the game. He's not worth it.
On a positive note, the current Rose exhibit at the Reds' Hall of Fame is really cool. I highly suggest any Reds fan check it out.

I agree with the lack of character, good of the game and all that. However, if you think everyone in the HOF was of high moral fiber, you're way wrong.. :)

Every time you open your mouth, you just fall deeper into that lying pit you started to dig back in 1989.
Last week Pete Rose told Dan Patrick on ESPN Radio that he bet on the Reds ?every night? when he was the team?s manager back in 1987.
Rose must have thought this would make him look better in the eyes of Major League Baseball, where he is still ineligible for baseball?s Hall of Fame.
Instead, Rose?s statements did just the opposite.

Pete Rose said on The Dan Patrick Show on Tuesday that he bet around $2,000per gamewhile he was managingthe Cincinnati Reds.
"It was like $2,000. That's it," Rose said in the interview. "And it didn't change -- because I know you're going to say, Well betting's all about pitching and stuff like that -- I didn't care who was pitching for me or who was pitching for the opposition. I just made it easy for the guys making the bets and just bet this much every game and that's the way we did it."
In his 2004 book, My Prison Without Bars, Rose had admitted to betting $1,000 per game as manager of the Reds, starting in 1987, and said he bet $2,000 on football games. The $2,000 figure for baseball bets was mentioned in 1989's Dowd Report, the findings of baseball's investigation into Rose's gambling, but Rose had never previously confirmed that amount.
Rose was banned from baseball for life by then-commissioner Bart Giamatti in September 1989 but denied those allegations until early 2004, when he came clean and admitted to betting on the Reds while he was their manager.
