PF/C Kyle Madsen (official thread)

I have heard the only knock on him coming out of high school was his size, but he has bulked up and is a much more polished player now.

I don't think Vandy was very happy about this lose. He is a nice outside jumper so he should be a great role player in Matta's system.

Are we selling this kid short by calling him a "role" player? He obviously has some talent and he has put on some weight, maybe he could be a suprise down the road, he will have time to develop if he came to tOSU. I have not seen him play, but at first glance he looks like a kid who has some potential.

We have several players already at the PF spot, this offer makes me think someone is leaving the program.......it doesn't make sense to offer Madsen unless someone is possibly transfering.....I have not heard anything along those lines, but think about it.....we have Hunter coming in this year and we already have Bell and Twigs in the program and with Koufos coming in along with us going hard after Roe, well.....I put 2 and 2 together and think someone is either thinking about transfering and has told the staff or has made the decision and it hasn't been made public to this point....

If Madsen comes, he would have the same eligablilty as Bell would, right?

He will have to sit out the upcoming year and then he would have 3 years of eligilbility.

More of the same....

Visited Dayton this week and will make a decision soon. Madsen feels both programs have pluses....Dayton is closer to home and offers more playing time while tOSU has the potential to be a very good team the next few years.

i saw him in high school a few times, he is a project kid. i havent seen him play in a bit over a year, but needless to say he still would need to make strides. that being said in two years he will have two years of eligbility, lots of time to develop and polish his game and his body. that being said i have zero other insight and no "real info" on the situation.

I don't think we are selling him short, with the likes of top 10 nba talent going to be on our team. I guess you could call him a compliment player, that isnt looked on to be the leader in points, but more the dirty work and help the stars out.

I really like this pick up, it gives us depth gives us a stop gap if Oden leaves early after 1 or 2 years. We will not be hurting for depth. I think he will also help the guys out in practice this year as he has banged with college players and understands the game.

I wasn't sure how I felt about this at first, but after talking with some fellow BPers who know more about Madsen/basketball than I do, I think I feel good about getting this kid in the mix. As long as he doesn't cut into my boy T-Wigs time next season.
