PF Jared Sullinger (2x 1st Team ALL B1G & All American, Anyang KGC, S.Korea)

Didn't say Sullinger was the reason we lost. But he certainly did not dominate the game last night the way he has other games -- the reason? as I stated he ran up against someone who could fight him for position - to which I'll add that KY did not need to double team him. That left them free to attack our outside shooters. Proof? They were able to block at least 11 shots and hurry others, that Diebler was the only one who could hit the three -- and he only shot what? three of them...

With all due respect.

Apparently you were on a ranch last night with no television. Diebler was 4-7 from the 3 point line. That's a fair number of threes to get up against a team that seemed determined to keep him from shooting threes.

They blocked 11 shots because as a team Kentucky is MUCH longer than Ohio State. It had nothing to do with playing Sullinger straight up down low.

Nope, we're surfing the web.

Glad to hear Jared stated he is coming back. However, those statements, or at least the ones I have heard reported, were made after an extremely tough loss and Jared was most assuredly in an emotional state. I hope he comes back, but I certainly won't hold those statments against him if he decides to leave.

And in no way, shape or form was he "dominated" by Harrelson, nor did they play to a draw.... Sullinger had a better game. The difference is that Sullinger had a good game against Harrelson which is what everyone expected. Harrelson had a good game against Sullinger which was NOT expected by many people.

What I remember was that Diebs was the only one who could hit the three last night. That's been unusual for this team. The fact that KY did not need to collapse on Sully meant that they could contest the passing lanes in and out of the post and play closer on the shooters and thus the Bucks 3 point shooters didn't get the open looks they had in previous games. At least that's what I saw on my TV.

For the record 'dudes' work on 'dude ranches.' I'm not a dude.

1. Jared Sullinger is a Power Forward. The best in collegiate basketball. Suggestions he be trained to play another position instead are ludicrous.

2. Everyone knew Jared is not a leap-out-of-the gym athlete, nor does he have a ridiculous wingspan. What he has is strength, guile, high IQ and an unmatched desire for the rebound - much like Kevin Love. Those will make him many $millions before he quits playing hoop.

3. We'd have probably done better against the very long Kentucky team had we had a legitimate center to pair with Sullinger. I for one wish Dallas had been in the game more. Just one man's opinion.

Except that he's being played as a post man, not a power forward.

No arguments here, but I don't think he gets to the NBA and the $$$ playing post.

Exactly. I wondered before the game if Matta had practiced with Sully and Dallas on the floor at the same time. Evidently not. The match ups - except for Craft on Knight - did not go the Buck's way.

I hear you, but increasingly college teams are not playing actual centers, and therefore PF is the biggest position on the floor. Also, I don't believe post play and the PF position are mutually exclusive even when there is a true center on the floor.

this season, sully was a center. though he has the height that is ideal for a power forward and though he does have some of the skills of a power forward, he was a center this year. heck, he didn't come close to filling the role of power forward for the buckeyes. that being stated, i do expect that sully will morph into more of a power forward if he returns next season.

Eh...not so sure. He's going to be asked to be our rock in the middle again, IMO. DeShaun Thomas will be a stretch 4 in the mold of Ivan Harris, and Sully is going to be asked to draw double teams or attack the rim if he isn't getting the double.

I totally agree with you that we probably wouldn't have done better against Kentucky if we have a legitimate center and played Sully away from the basket but the one problem with this team was that we did not have a legitimate offensive center and putting Dallas on the floor with Sully begs to the question who are you going to take off the floor. Certainly not Craft, Lighty, Diebler and not a guy like Buford who can get his stroke going at any moment.

This game hurt like hell last night and I think we are all searching for answers on how we might have been able to win but unfortunately we gave it our best shot with the players who only lost 2 games this season so why look for changes now.

sully has already stated that he plans to work on his jumper and face-up game, which obviously means that he plans on showcasing those talents. he made those comments earlier in the season. why would i doubt him? matta certainly wouldn't deny him that. i would be very surprised if sully's game next year isn't a hybrid center/power forward that edges more toward the role of center.

sully, his father, and matta know what the nba wants from him. they've already heard from a number of scouts that a face-up game is what sully needs to develop. there is no chance that we don't see much more of that from sullinger next year. it's the necessary step in his development.
