PG Anthony Crater (transfer to South Florida & Georgetown College)

I find it interesting a top Michigan talent from Flint wants to leave the state to play basketball. I would have figured he would be a shoe-in to play for Izzo at Michigan State.

SAME HERE. I never thought an OSU coach would ever be able to go into scum land and grade a top player. Scum is really down but, your right Izzo&msu are still tough as heck to beat out .

Matta or Tressel.
Whose the king of recruiting at :osu: what A NICE PROBLEM TO HAVE.:)

FWIW- It doesn't appear Crater has really been recruited very hard by either UM or MSU. I know that MSU only has 2 scholarships for the 2008 class and is bringing in a top flight PG in 2007. Even if we had gone after him he still may have left the state.

This is a great forum. Good luck with Crater.

MSU not recruiting him has nothing to do with talent, attitude, etc as far as I know. That's not what I was trying to say.

He admitted that Duke was his favorite team growing up but I'm not sure he is going to be one of their top targets.

Crater recently visited Illinois. He enjoyed the visit but now reportedly says he does not have a leader. Duke, Arizona, Ohio State, Illinois, Louisville, Michigan State, Michigan, Marquette and Florida are on his list. No timetable on a decision. Mentions he would visit tOSU this weekend for the NIU game.

Crater was scheduled to visit Michigan and Ohio State this past weekend, but did not make the trips due to a family obligation. Crater has visits to Pittsburgh, Arizona and then Ohio State on the weekend of Sept. 30th. Ohio State, Arizona, Kansas, Duke, Illinois and Florida are the schools he is focused on at this point. Mentions wanting to see how Ohio State does this coming season and if Coach Matta lets them play.

Unless Matta totally changes his philosophy (he wont), I think Crater is going to like what he sees this year. Matta's guard oriented offense has to be just what he is looking for, even with Oden in the middle.
