PG Anthony Crater (transfer to South Florida & Georgetown College)

Crater fell, but Buford hit 5-star status. Offutt fell a bit, and so did Babbitt (from a high to medium 4 star). Everyone knew Crater was falling, the question was just how much. Falling to a 3 seems a bit drastic, but after the way he played the last month, he didn't deserve to be a 5 star anymore. He'll probably bounce back and be a 4 star guy when all is said and done. Brian Snow on rivals prepared us for this. He also prepared us for Buford's meteoric rise. Snow's usually on the money.

I don't see how you can deem a guy a five star and then deem him a 3 star...

When you see a 5 star guy you see a guy that is a can't miss, he can do it all, and there is no second guessing...

I understand that guys fall and guys climb in the rankings, but when not one recruiting service, but he 2 main recruiting services have him as the a 5 star #2 PG in the country, then all of a sudden he has a good high school season, decides to play on an AAU team where he has to try and find his way, and he struggles, doesn call for a fall like this...

IMO it has more to do with the fact that he has already verbaled...

I think it has more to do with how much stock they place into the AAU circuit. Buford has had a couple of really solid weeks and he rises, while Crater struggles and falls. Both verballed ... to the same school, but different movement on the rankings based on AAU performance.

Not that it's necessarily a fair assessment of one's ability to place that much stock in glorified pick-up games... but it has far more to do with that than his verbal.

Rivals are the same morons that don't have Mike Adams as a top 100 player in the nation.

If Noopy was from the south or Cali, he would be rated higher. He didn't play well, but a 3 star and #114 in the nation.....gimme a break.

This is the same guy that absolutely dominated the ABCD camp last summer...Had a good high school season...

It should be the overall body of work, that they see him, counting his film, along with all the offers he was receiving and the like...

The guys that were after him before he verballed arent the likes that offer a 3 star pg...

Regardless of what is ranking is or will be in the future.....their is no doubt in my mind that he is one of the top PGs in the nation.......his drop is due to just two AAU events....what a joke. Crater was the player of the year in Michigan and I personally do not get caught up in the rankings......trust me when I say that every major program would have taken Crater in a second. When it is all said and done.....it would not suprise me to see him back as a five star....

The sky is not falling.......I guess we can label him as a sleeper now.

Noopy's a great PG, but Rivals puts a lot of stock into player development. The drop in the rankings is most likely caused by his apparent inability to score for the most part, which they probably figured would have developed by now. He seems like Travis Walton for MSU, except Noopy is better at finding the open man, while Walton is better defensively.

Well I think it is stupid to only think a pg can rated high if he is a scorer...Look at Conley and the fact that he will be the highest pg drafted, and he isnt a scorer...It is his ability to get into the lane and create, which is what you see from Crater and hear in all reports about his game...

Conley is very fast, Crater doesn't posses that speed. IIRC, Conley also was a big scorer in HS, so he could score at OSU, he just wasn't asked to score constantly. Crater on the other hand averaged like 15ppg last year, which isn't bad, but its not up to par with other prospects. From the few times I've seen him, and everything I've read about him, Crater should be top 75, he's probably overrated at top 30, but he's going to be a very good PG with a lot of upside.

Conley was not a big scorer in high school or on the AAU circuit. And if a 15 ppg player is the state player of the year as a junior, then he must be bringing a lot to the game in other ways.
