PG Scoonie Penn (B1G POY, All-American, Asst. Coach Memphis Grizzlies)

I didn't understand them either. After reading the article I think it was a great idea. I would want one with "George Washington Carver" on the front and "Peanut Butter" on the back.
(yes I know he didn't actually invent it). Hundreds of peanut related products.

Possible and Scoonie could prove to be a very good recruiter, but I'd definitely be a bit nervous about our national recruiting. Schrage was excellent in that capacity.
I have to believe that Penn fully expects to be promoted and iif he is not I can see him leaving the program pretty easily. I know that it would be a step down but who is Boals top assistant at Ohio University. If he does not have one, Scoonie might go there because it might lead to a HC position in a couple years.

Penn (along with a handful of others) is being inducted into the Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame Saturday evening.

I went to last year's induction ceremony and it was pretty darn cool. Quite a few notable people were in attendance last year -- Coach Holtman was the keynote speaker, Clark Kellogg, Bill Hosket, Michael Redd, Ron Stokes....I don't even remember who else. Definitely worth doing if you love Ohio basketball.

Current Ohio State Director of Player Development and Former point guard Scoonie Penn was inducted into the Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame Saturday night.

If fate had not intervened he may never even been tied to Ohio.

Penn came to Ohio State with former head coach Jim O’Brien. When O’Brien decided to leave Boston College to take the job at Ohio State, Penn had a close relationship with him and wanted to come along to Columbus. He transferred and had to sit out a year because of NCAA undergraduate rules (the transfer portal did not exist then), then made a big-time splash for two year at Ohio State.

Former players from that time when Penn sat out a year tell stories of him running circles around eligible players and often taking his so-called “scout team” to wins against the starters, but we all found how how good he really was when he took over the starting point guard spot during the 1998-99 season.

He finished the year as the Big Ten’s Co-Conference Player of the Year leading the team in three-pointers and assists, and led the Buckeyes to the Final Four. The following season, Penn was named First Team All-Big Ten for the second-straight year and was a Third Team All-American. He won the Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award given to the best senior in college basketball under 6-foot. Penn ended his career as the leader in three-pointers made at Ohio State.

Now, Penn is a Hall of Famer. Congrats to Penn who is as much a gentleman off the court as on.
