Pistons rout Magic 91-72 in Game 1 of second-round series

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - Hedo Turkoglu's uncontested dunk early in the second half gave the Orlando Magic their first lead. Less than a minute later, the Detroit Pistons took over.

Chauncey Billups had 19 points, seven assists and played a key role in the decisive run of the game, leading Detroit to a 91-72 win over Orlando on Saturday night in Game 1 of the second-round series.

Dwight Howard had a relatively quiet night with 12 points, eight rebounds and three blocks after being the first player since Wilt Chamberlain to score 20 points and grab 20 rebounds in three playoff games since Wilt Chamberlain did it in 1972.

This series better go 7 or the winner of the Cavs/TBA series is going to be tired when they have to play in the next round. I like the Magic regardless of the loss in game one.

Yeah I agree...don't think the Pistons will play that good all series and don't think the Magic will play that bad all series...

If the Magic get beat they really got screwed as they were playing the 4th quarter with 3 points that never should of been there for the Pistons...

What a stupidly written NBA rule. The refs can only use the replay to determine whether the shot should've counted at the end of a quarter when the clock actually went to 0.0 seconds; not when they have a good reason to believe that it should have.

Billups still sore, unsure if he can play in Game 4

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Chauncey Billups said Thursday he was still sore, a night after he was forced to leave the Pistons' loss to Orlando in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semifinals because of a strained right hamstring.

The All-Star guard said he isn't sure if he will be ready to play in Game 4 on Saturday in Orlando. The Magic's 111-86 victory Wednesday cut the Pistons' lead to 2-1.

"Just going to take it one day at a time and see what happens," Billups said. "But it's feeling sore, kind of similar to last night."

Watching the end of that game I thought it was going to be another classic Flip saunders choke, not calling a timeout. Then rahseed passes up an open three and i'm screaming no no no no, yes . It's amazing they've gone this far with such inept coaching.

While a dumb NBA rule may have cost the Magic game two, their own stupidity cost them game four. A double digit lead, at home, second half, and no Billups...yet they pissed it away.

Detroit will finish them in game five.

The Magic had their chances in this series, but overall they just weren't ready for the big time, and it really looks like Detroit is a little hungrier this year than they have been in the past couple years...Winner of Boston/Cleveland is going to have their hands full, especially with Detroit now getting about 5=7 days or so of rest before the series starts...
