Pittsburgh Pirates (5x WS Champions) Ain't Nutting happenin'

Rinku Singh, LHP, 6′2, 185 lbs.
His arm speed is average at best and he relies on leverage to generate velocity.
Singh?s FB comes in 79-83 MPH, with a slow moving curve that ranges from 67-72. He currently lacks a real feel for the breaking pitch and his curve has little bite to it.

Dinesh Patel, RHP, 5′10/185

Fastball is 84-85 and touches 87 with some tail down and in on right-handed batters, showing occasional sink. Delivery looks repeatable, but his release point is a little inconsistent, which will create command issues until he sorts it out.

Neither pitchers have Nolan Ryan speed.

Looking at the rotation take shape this Spring they might as well put these two out there. Gorzellany won 14 games in 2007 and now he can't get anyone out. The lead candidate for the fifth starter position, some dude named Virgil Vasquez, has a career ERA of over 8.00...which is better than his ERA this Spring. :shake:

Thought you guys might enjoy this. At the end of a recent Q&A with Baseball Prospectus your boy McLouth had this to say:

DL: Any final thoughts?
NM: Never again will the Michigan Wolverines win only three football games in a season. I'm absolutely certain of that.

The interview had nothing to do with CFB.

I've never really reveled in the Pirates losing before but now that I know they have a Bike Hart knock off roaming CF....

The Bucs are so devoid of talent I'm going to have to overlook this transgression by one of the few good players on the team. :smash:

Surprise, surprise, Tyler Yates still sucks.

Maholm had a nice start, and it took Yates one pitch leading off the bottom of the eighth to lose it. At least the new unis look a little better. :ohwell:

Now Brandon Moss fires a five-hopper to home plate from short right field. While I type, they have a guy picked off and throw it away. The Keystone Kops are back!

Just fucking fold this team, already, or move them to the International League. :shake:

I take it all back!

Four runs off Jason Motte in the 9th! Jack Wilson hits a three run double with 2 outs!

Nice win by the Pirates. Makes you wonder how different this team would be with Aramis Ramirez at 3b and an outfield of Bay, Nady and McLouth.

They would've lost Ramirez to free agency a couple years ago, Nady this past offseason and Bay later this year. The problem is, unlike the A's for example, when the Bucs trade guys away they can't resign the prospects they get never amount to anything.

We'll see how Ohlendorf, Karstens, Moss, Hansen and Tabata do for them. I sure hope they don't end up being Bobby Hill and the other bums whose names I can't remember.

Split 4 in STL then blowout the Reds, 10-2, today in Cinci to go to 3 wins, 2 losses.

Just need to put together 31 more 3-2 stretches.

I heard an interesting factoid about McLouth on the Reds radio broadcast last weekend. He has stolen 57 bases and has been thrown out just 5 of times. Of those 5, 4 were via pick-off. That's impressive as hell. Hopefully Pittsburgh can hold onto this guy for awhile.

The only catcher to throw him out stealing is Matt May (nee Traynor) of the Marlins.
