First Round
1 Phoenix Over 8 Memphis, 4-0
I see a quick one here. Phoenix is better, hotter, and has home court.

7 Denver Over 2 San Antonio, 4-2
I like the Nuggets for three reasons: 1.) Duncan isn't 100% (noticably), 2.) Denver has plenty of quality big bodies (Camby, Nene, K-Mart) to run at him and throw him around, and 3.) Parker and Ginobli have spotty playoff reps with regards to filling a void in Duncan's absence. All of this, however, becomes a moot point if 'Melo can't pull his weight in the series.

3 Seattle Over 6 Sacra-Tomato, 4-2
Not a big fan of the Queens since the Webber trade and Divac exodus. Bibby is still a great player, and Seattle is very vulnerable if they're not hitting from the perimeter. The Sonics are virtually unbeatable if they are clicking from the outside, and I expect them to be in this series (for four games, at least).

5 Houston Over 4 Dallas, 4-2
Toin coss here. Houston has T-Mac, a true Center (Yao), and Dallas has no PG. I'm going with the Rockets.

1 Miami Over 8 New Jersey, 4-3
For some reason I see the Nets as a very tough out here. I think this series comes down to the 4th Quarter of Game 7, and Shaq & D-Wade will outlast J-Kidd & Vinsanity.

2 Detroit Over 7 Philly, 4-3
A.I. will have some big games in this series. Its in the air. The Cheesesteaks take Detroit to the wire, but fall short in the end.

3 Boston Over 6 Indiana, 4-1
The Celtics' depth will be way more than a depleted Indiana team can handle in this series. I'm giving the Pacers one game in honor of Reggie Miller's final series.

4 Chicago Over 5 Washington, 4-2
Ben Gordon might be the most anticipated attraction in the NBA Playoffs in a long time. I see Gordon having a big series and bouncing the surprising Wiz.

Second Round
1 Phoenix Over 5 Houston, 4-2
The Suns have too much firepower for the Rockets, but don't be surprised if Jeff Van Gundy comes up with a defensive scheme to slow down the Suns' running attack & T-Mac rolls out a 40 pt. game or two to make this closer than the experts think.

7 Denver Over 3 Seattle, 4-2
I think Denver's frontcourt is a little too much for the Sonics, who must have a great perimeter effort to pull this one out.

1 Miami Over 4 Chicago, 4-2
Too much Shaq, too much D-Wade, but Gordon and the Bulls give a great effort. They'll be back.

3 Boston Over 2 Detroit, 4-3
The Celtics can match Detroit's depth, have more go-to scorers, and the Pistons have missed too many games (due to suspension, injury, and Larry Brown's health) for me to pick them to go far in the playoffs. They get bounced here.

Conference Finals
1 Phoenix Over 7 Denver, 4-3
No way Denver wins three straight series without home court. No Way. The train stops here.

3 Boston Over 1 Miami, 4-2
I'm not entirely sold on Miami, because they have NOTHING outside of the Diesel and Wade. I think they're primed for an upset, and I think Boston's the perfect team to do it, similar to the Pistons over the Lakers last year.

Finals
Phoenix & Boston
TBA

Good call on Denver over SA, at least for one game....

I like the call of Houston over Dallas, as well. Never have been a fan of the Mavs, and few have really noticed how good Houston has been the last half of the season.

I'd maybe have the Bulls pulling some magic in the East with Deng and Curry. But they don't have those two, so even with the 1-0 lead, I see them going down to the Bullets...er, Wiz. Unless Nocioni can go for 25 and 18 boards (!) a game.

Don't see Boston as quite having enough to upend the Heat.

Like most all of what you said.

I was at that Bulls game... wow did Chicago need a playoff team in some kinda sport in a bad way. I think that throughout the playoffs, we'll have one of the best home courts in the NBA. It's such a shame that Eddie is out... he and Deng would have given the Bulls a legit shot at the Heat in the 2nd round.

Oh and if the Heat can make it past NJ, I don't think anyone will stop them on the way to the finals. I'd agree that they don't have MUCH outside of Shaq... but Eddie Jones is a decent scorer, and let's not forget just how good Wade has looked. This is the hungry, determined Shaq we saw in years past. Not only that, Detroit had the formula to beat Shaq, grind it out. They also had someone who could kinda sorta maybe guard him from time to time... who will do that in Boston?

BuckeyeTillIDie: "I didn't catch the names of the refs."

The refs in Game 2 were: Bennett Salvatore , Joe Derosa , Mark Wunderlich.

Whenever Salvatore or Bevetta are anywhere close to a Playoff game, you know the fix is on. Bill Simmons ("The Sports Guy") on Espn.com Page 2 thinks there are worse offenders, but those two refs take the cake for me.

The Knicks should retire Salvatore & Bevetta's numbers (alongside Patrick Ewing) for contributing so much success to the team in the 90's.

One of these days, a ref is going to turn bad and pull out a chair and start a riot on the court a la "Danny Davis." Either that, or miss a crucial call in a game when a strategic play is made by a player with both feet out of bounds. It's going to happen. Oh, wait....

The NBA would upgrade its refs if it hired 'Dangerous' Danny Davis, Nick Patrick, Dave Hebner, or any of the other refs from wrestling infamy.

Either that, or get a Special Guest Referee for Playoffs games like Wreslting does.

So, not a Knick fan, huh? How convenient that you seem to pick those NY teams that actually win as your favorites. :roll1:

Not really. When I was growing up, the Mets were the biggest team in town, and the Giants were winning Super Bowls. I don't like either team.

The New York teams I've rooted for all my life are: the Yankees (who were mired in Steinbrenner garbage at the time), the Rangers (who were working on a 54 year Cup drought at the time), and St. John's in College Basketball (I've since abandoned SJU since I went to a college of my own & have them to root for).

I just got lucky that the Rangers finally won the Cup, and the Yankees became a Dynasty.

Conference Finals.

Spurs 4, Suns 2. Amare will average about 40, but Duncan, Manu, and Parker will all have 20+.

Heat 4, Pistons 3. Pistons seem like they are sleep-walking this year. They'll wake up a little for this series, but won't be able to find the next gear when they need it.

NBA Finals

Spurs 4, Heat 2

Heat can get through the East with a hobbled Shaq, but not the Finals. Tim Duncan Finals MVP, though Wade will put up huge stats in a valiant effort to steal some wins for the Heat.

How good is Manu Ginobili? Did you see that behind-the-back move at the end of the fourth quarter in Game Two? Amazing!

As much as I'd like to see the Heat in the Finals, I think it will be the Spurs and Pistons battling it out.

Spurs 4 Suns 1
Pistons 4 Heat 2

Spurs 4 Pistons 2

I think the two best teams are in the Finals. And it should be interesting, they match up pretty well with each other.

Bruce Bowen will frustrate Rip Hamilton.

I think Tayshaun Prince will be on Ginobili a lot, and the San Antonio starting guards will be up and down in the series. Brent Barry will have 1 huge game hitting 3's.

But San Antonio can rest Duncan on defense by putting him on Ben Wallace. Then on offense he can get both Wallaces in foul trouble.

Spurs in 5.
