Quarless off team?

altoona mirror
i guess the mirror is using a message board as a source. according to that newspaper, my post qualifies as a "report."
I told my dad about this and I made a prediction that they will be "off the team" for a couple weeks, then they will have "earned" their way back on (well, Quarless anyway, since he's good). Turns out I gave them too much of a time frame, as stater fans are "reporting" (in the same way the mirror reported) that he was off the team, but now he's back.

I don't really understand the Clausen citation. It sounds to me that he could have just been the driver for a beer run- and since he is underage with a car, the 23-year old took advantage of the freshman in order to get to the liquor store. I know that we've all had people drive us to the beer store in the past, whether or not they were over 21. Things like this make me realize how the drinking age is arbitrarily set... maybe Clausen was just the 'sober driver' as quoted in the hit song 'Beer Run'.

Actually it sounds to me as if you clearly understand what Clausen received a ticket for. You then try and paint, what I think of as, a thoroughly implausible scenario, one which hinges on a grown adult 23-year old being taken advantage of by a 19-year old college freshman as the driver.

More likely scenario? Hey Jimmy, want some brew? Well then you have to supply the wheels.

Jimmy C rides the 23-year old grad to the liquor store. The ND grad buys the hooch and gets into Jimmy C's wheels. Both of them are nabbed by the excise polizei who ride hard on the students in South Bend. (Which fact is drilled into undergraduates on entry to ND by the way.)

So was Jimmy Clausen taken advantage of? Perhaps, but you cannot discount that he was taking advantage of a valid state ID in possession of the ND graduate to procure beer and liquor for a leetle party. Both figures took some advantage of each other, both would have been abundantly aware of the consequences.
