Post-Game Post Mortem - Penn State

1) Do you still think that Troy Smith is clearly the best QB and the man to lead this team?
No.

2) Do you still think that Antonio Pittman is a great running back?
Yes

3) Do you still think that the Buckeyes have the best group of wide receivers in college football?
Yes

4) Do you still think that this team has more talent than the 2002 squad (which was ranked the #16 team of all time by Billingsley's)?
Yes

5) Do you still think that this is a national championship caliber team?
No

My opinion is that this team lacks the collective intensity like the 02 team.

Smith is a VERY poor mans Vince Young (veeery poor mans..)

Hamby stinks (no im not going to send an email to him)

Tressel needs a REAL offensive coordinator

I feel bad for the defensive unit... They play with the heart, desire and intesity of champions...shame that they have to share the field with that offense...

Im slightly frustrated with this offense...I will, from now on call them OSpU and rightfully call the defense TOSU.

No comments tonight, just a few questions, taken from opinions previously seen on this board:

2) Do you still think that Antonio Pittman is a great running back?

3) Do you still think that the Buckeyes have the best group of wide receivers in college football?

5) Do you still think that this is a national championship caliber team?

Well....

1.) No, though I honestly don't think JZ would have faired much better. Seemed to me our recievers were having difficulties getting open in time.
2) Never thought he was great...very good. He ran very hard tonight, and created some good yardage after the initial hits. He always seems to be falling forward.
3.) NO. See above. Teddy looks LOST right now. Way too much dancing around. And were the eff was Gonzo tonight.
4.) No.
5.) No.
Let's face facts. The refs let them get away with a sickening amount of calls, but our O played loke balls tonight. Their line was in our backfield all night, I really think the early loss of Barton hurt a lot. All this plus an extremely pumped, hostile crowd = a 17-10 loss. Our D deserves a hell of a lot of credit for bringing it down to the last drive.

Id start Zwick from here on out, Smith proved tonight that he cannot run our offense. Zwick has kept a clean hand, stayed out of trouble, and been a great team player, Smith has been in trouble twice.
Against bad teams you can get by with an athlete at QB, but against good teams you need someone that can pass and see the field, Smith lacks in both areas.
Start Zwick from here on out, no matter what, Ive supported Smith over Zwick for every single minute this season, but after tonight Im ready to vomit over his "performance."

An offense starts with the line, and we don't have the horses, how many all Big 10 lineman do we have maybe 1, much less an all american.Hopefully, its not to the point where the defense tells the offense to hold em.We run three plays out of the spread and I thinkPSU knew them all.

how about..

No

No

No

No

No

No

err... maybe an extra one there.

Have to love Troy's heart... but he made stupid decisions, and what the fuck is it with tOSU QBs not being able to make a decision and throw the fucking ball... how many times did we have over 5 seconds to throw and couldn't find anything... it is either poor coaching/play calling or ____________

I don't know 'bout everyone else... but this was one of the worst games (MSU '98 excluded) I have watched them play.

FUCKING RIDICULOUS

I completely disagree with you about the receivers. Smith can't A) read a defense and B) see the field. Does the guy have an actual neck? His face mask stairs in one direction on the field 90% of the time. Zwick would have been MUCH better in this game simply because he can get rid of the ball quicker. Ginn ran some good routes and Davie was pointing out how Smith was MISSING read after read after read.

What's up with the fascism? Why am I not allowed to express my thoughts?

The refs did a horrible job in this game. If you're a true blooded American you wouldn't delete my comments over and over again. What is wrong with my questioning the refs? So again,

How many times did the refs not call offensive holding on drives that resulted in touchdowns for Penn State????

How anciently slow were the refs to put the ball down at the end of the game?

How many times was the ball spotted short for the Bucks and long for Penn State?

I really don't want to look back at this game, but the homefield advantage was more than it ever should be.

Troy Smith was not on top of his game today. I think Justin Zwick should have been used in the 4th quarter.

Everyone blamed it on the OL in 2002 and 2003 as well. How many are in the NFL? 3 and the TE makes 4?

It aint a talent issue folks.

Never did. I always said that he would cost us at least a game or two because of the way he plays and today was it.

2) Do you still think that Antonio Pittman is a great running back?
PSU is good against the run and I don't blame Pittman. I never believed that he was a world beater, but he can get the job done. We need a QB who can get the ball to the playmakers to open up the run.

3) Do you still think that the Buckeyes have the best group of wide receivers in college football?
They are better than they looked today. If they don't get the ball they can't do anything. Ginn had a terrible game today.

4) Do you still think that this team has more talent than the 2002 squad (which was ranked the #16 team of all time by Billingsley's)?
Overall yes, but we don't have the clutch plays to win the games.

5) Do you still think that this is a national championship caliber team?
I think we could play with anyone in a bowl game. We seem to have problems playing away at night. JT needs to stop oking these games.

Well....

1. Yes. Smith and Zwick are close enough that I think you just pick one horse and ride it till it dies or you find a better one. We haven't found a better one yet. Whatever you do don't play musical chairs at the QB posistion. The wrong decision is better than no decision in this case.

2. Never thought he was a "great" back. He's a damn good back and I wouldn't mind seeing him get more carries.

3. Yes. We only have solid, competent college quarterbacks though. With a really outstanding quarterback these guys could show their full potential.

4. Yes. Out of the 22 players I'd take more than half of the 2005 guys to build a fantasy team with. We're missing a Craig Krenzel though, and this team doesn't have that intangible quality that absolutely refuses to lose under any circumstances. See the last drive tonight and the last two drives against Texas vs. the '02 Purdue game. More talented players don't neccesarily mean a better football team.

5. No. Hate to say it but there is absolutely no chance in hell we're getting to Pasadena this year. However, when the road gets bumpy it knocks all the fair weather fans and other assorted pussies off the bandwagon. Good riddance to those assholes. Fuck it, I'll cheer for Ohio State whether we're playing USC in the Rose Bowl or East Nebraska State Community College in the Music City bowl.:osu:

Hats off to Penn State btw. Those guys flat out wanted it more than our guys did tonight. They out-Tressled us. Don't fuck up and let your defense carry you to the win. Now I know how everybody we played in 2002 felt. What the FUCK?!?! We're better than those guys....

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go jump off a bridge.:!
