Game Thread Purdue at tOSU, Oct 20th, Noon ET, ABC/ESPN2

D has actually performed better than I thought except for that first play (time for Storm to sit on the bench for a while). But because the offense has sucked (hard to sugar-coat it), the defense has been on the field most of the first half.

OSU is just not a very good team. They'll lose to Penn State, Wisconsin, and definitely Michigan. Could lose this game, but I expect them to get it together in the 2nd half.

I'm not ready to concede those games, or this one, yet. It was a bad 30 minutes, but we're only down six and we're unbeaten to date. This team isn't THAT bad.

I respectfully disagree. There's a lot more going wrong than Braxton. He's our guy. We need to work through this with him at the helm.

Miller's playing very poorly, but I agree. You can't bail on him in his first game where he hasn't caught fire yet. He needs snaps and needs to have this shitty game to learn. He might have a fantastic second half or he might still be bad, but he needs that playing time no matter what so that he can grow as a player.

Well this half was uglier than Lidsay Lohan in clown makeuo, but we are still only down 6...if the D wasn't playing better this game would be over already. I am still somewhat surprised by how bad our special teams are this year...I imagine they can get it figured out to win this game, but ugliness may lie ahead, let's face it, the Michigan game is basically our entire season this year so they have 3-4 weeks to figure it all out.

The D played pretty well in the first half considering how long they were on the field. We got fucked out of a holding call on that kickoff return but that is life. It could easily be 23-7 right now.

The O needs to focus on winning first down. It seems like we've called a lot of drop back passes on first down but this is not Braxton's strength. He's missed open receivers as well. We need to focus on running north and south in first down and hitting play-action passes.

This has been a Jekyll and Hyde offense all year, they will pick it up in the 2nd half.

Stop being thick, you know exactly what I meant. I missed one game out of 6-7 that supported exactly what I said. And I know that Purdue was good in the late 90s and early 2000s, but they've been 7-6, 5-7, and 4-8 the last 3 times they've played OSU.

:so:

You'd better expect everyone's best shot when you're Ohio State or you get upset. It's as simple as that.

Have we ran out of the I at all this season?

I thought Urb said he would mix that in a little bit with his spread. Especially having 2 big backs made for it.

The blocking FB is now playing defense, and unless they run the option it takes the ball out of Braxton's hands when they run.

Only goal line. I don't think that's the answer though. I'm looking to see Miller get a few designed runs where he doesn't have to read and can maybe get upfield quickly.

I understand that the passing game is what Purdue is giving, but OSU simply can't execute well in it. It just goes to show that this OSU offense goes as Miller's legs go. If he breaks a long run to open the second half, I bet the offense starts clicking and Purdue will start to bite more on fakes.

Its ugly right now. We seem to play at our opponents level this season. I won't say we lose to any team because it's a one game at a time and Purdue is the one team we need to worry about for the next 30 mins. Bucks win by 14.
