QB Antonio Henton (transfer to Ga. Southern and FT. Valley St.)

Maybe this will start to quiet some people over on BN that are still mad about Henton's offer. The guy is back healthy and it has obviously made a difference in his and his team's performances.
you're asking for BN to be reasonable, which isn't possible. They are still all up in arms that Sutton didn't get an offer, and moreso that we should not have offered Wells over him (USC didn't come after Sutton).

Henton should be a solid QB. I like hearing about the 70 yd run, b/c he's billed as a Smith clone but isn't quite as quick.

How good is 4-AAA football in Georgia?

In all fairness, it is alright to have more than 3 RB's on the roster. It still amazes me that Texas has like 17 RB's on their roster and we can't offer one more that set the rushing record in Ohio with nearly 10,000 yards.

Scout $

10/25/05

By Scott Kennedy of Scout.com...Antonio's coach calls him the best he's ever had at their high school. Antonio runs a no huddle system and has done a superb job getting people lined up correctly and calling the right plays. Antonio has had back to back 9 for 11 performances and of those 4 incompletions, one was a drop and one was caught out of bounds.

Scout has also posted 3 videos of Antonio.

This should put a lot of the talk about whether or not Antonio is a B10 caliber QB to rest...

Amen. These are great videos. The kid has what it takes, no doubt in my mind. Scott Kennedy seems to be more and more impressed with Henton. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a bump in their rankings next time they are updated.

I also like this statement.... "<!--StartFragment -->It would be impossible to watch Henton play an actual game and question his accuracy." This is one of the things the wackos over on BN have been hammering him for. IMO, it's also something that tends to be rare with running QB's, which is great news for Buckeyes everywhere.

Antonio looks taller than the 6-1.5 listed in his Scout profile. His accuracy is undeniably fantastic. He can move in the pocket and get to the perimeter if needed, but he is a pocket passer first. What impresses me the most is how he stands in and takes a hit on his release. He can put some decent zip on the ball, and throws the deep ball well (with a great target like Slaughter) but does not have the zip on his ball of a Troy Smith, but more like a Justin Zwick or a Matt Leinart. Great touch when needed.

I for one am very impressed with this video...he looks like he is going to be a fine project QB at OSU.

I have never doubted he had the physical tools to have success at OSU, I hope other people who have questioned that because of his ranking will watch these videos and think differently.

this is especially interesting given the Allan Wallace thread on BN premium. Wallace essentially criticized henton's accuracy and ability to hit wr's in stride.

To be fair, these comments were made about a week ago, so he may not have seen the senior videos yet. If he did however, wallace will look a little foolish given the most recent article.

On the BN free Recruiting board Steve Helwagen passed along this info from Scott Kennedy about Antonio Henton...

<!--StartFragment --> "They TKO'd the past two teams... mercey ruled them. Antonio only played the 1st half of both games.

"You check into every play whether it's a run or a pass...

"The fact that he only saw the 1st half of each game before they mercy ruled the other team, shows he's doing a pretty good job...

"Also, Peach started 0-3 playing above their region, while Henton was hurt... he's been healthy, and now Peach has a chance to go undefeated in the region for the 3rd straight year and finish 7-3 on Friday..."

Henton fits the type of player that OSU is looking for in the quarterback position which is a threat to run the ball at that position. Everyone wants that mobile double threat athlete back there now. Its the way college football is going.

I think he fits that mold in a way, but from his films he doesnt scramble to run, he scrambles to elude pressure and find the open reciever. I would say he is a passer first, runner just because he can.
