QB Cardale '12 Gauge' Jones (B1G Champion, National Champion)

Actually it's Cardale with his size and arm strength that has the better potential, but Miller's quickness and being more polished makes him the best player right now.

Schoenhoft had outstanding size and arm strength. These qualities are secondary, IMO. I don't know if you meant to say those are the two most important qualities, but to me they definitely are not. Got me thinking about all the scouting reports I see that reference those aspects of a QB, they are usually raving about potential after camps, but to some extent performance in games is an indicator of potential.

Give me the one with a better grasp of the game any day (see Randolph, Schoenhoft's backup in HS), especially at QB. I haven't seen Miller play much, but after watching the state championship game, I find it hard to believe Cardale is a better prospect than Miller. That is not to say he is unworthy of an offer, however.

The thing about this discussion is the word "prospect." Neither are going to start from day one, and both are going to have to relearn what they thought they knew about football to adjust to the college game.

Braxton does have a very good sense of the game. He throws darts and makes quick decisions. At this point in his development, Cardale is a bit more of a plodding quarterback. But, let's keep the state championship game in perspective. They were playing in the teens in terms of temperature, and there were plenty of opportunities that his WR's left on the table.

I'm going to be ecstatic with either, and euphoric with both.

But to answer your question, no Cardale is not a better QB right now. The rankings will show that. But he can be if he continues improving at his current pace.

I would be all for taking Jones if we have room...this guy if flat out a playmaker. Obviously he has a gun, but he just needs to discern when to use it. Having seen both though...I like Braxton much better. Braxton is the more polished QB, but he is far from "polished" in all actuality. Both guys are just scraping their potential, though Braxton is further along in his development. As good as Jones is scrambling, I think if Braxton had that skill set around him, you could really see the difference. This isn't just some homer scouting report, it is what I think the OSU staff sees and other schools.

Additionally, look at the situation. As unionfutura has pointed out, we wanted to get a polished QB this year because if Guiton doesn't pan out, we are going to be mighty thin. Graham was a solid pickup but it looks like he may have real issues staying healthy. If we are forced to only take 1, the choice would have to be Miller because there is a fairly high chance we could need him to step in early. While the sky is the limit for Jones, he will need more time to develop. However, let's hope we can take both if Bridgewater loses interest in being a WR, OSU, or both...speaking of which, I feel a "Braxton vs. Bridgewater vs. Jones" merger coming. Good discussion though.

Well that would put us way up there with scholarship qb`s. Pryor, Bauserman, Guiton, Graham, Reed(starts at qb), Miller and Jones. I realize Pryor will be a senior in two seasons but thats a lot of qb`s. Go Bucks

True, but Pryor and Bauserman will be gone by the time these 2 would see any PT. Guiton could be switching to WR, and so could Reed. I know this is a big maybe, but I don't think Jones or Miller would worry about the competition. We still don't know how the lack of reps due to injury will affect Graham either. Bringing in 2 QBs might be a very good idea
