QB Dwayne Haskins Jr. (All B1G, B1G OPOY, Silver Football, Rose Bowl MVP, R.I.P.)

At the end of The 62 Game last week, Gus Johnson mentioned Peyton Manning and Tom Brady when talking about Dwayne. From the first game of the year, he's reminded me of Dan Marino. His quick, high release and limited mobility make me think of Marino more than any other NFL QB.

Agreed. I always thought Marino had the strongest arm I've seen, not because he could haul back and launch it 80 yards like Bradshaw or Cunningham (or 12-gauge); but because, with an extremely quick and seemingly insignificant flip of the forearm, he could send a 25 yard bullet. Haskins looks similar to that.

Hands down, Jeff George still had the strongest arm I’ve ever seen and he could do that like Marino could...he just had no idea where it was going and whined up a storm after it got there.

I think Haskins still needs seasoning, but he has an almost limitless ceiling.

Yep, I agree, and thought about George, but generally don't mention him just because, as you said, he wasn't very good (at least at the NFL level). Heck, Scramblin' Shane Morris has a good arm, if all you're talking about is the ability to rifle the ball, without reference to which county it lands in. But you're right, Jeff George had the ability to flick his wrist and somehow send a 25 yard bullet...somewhere.

The ceiling for his talent is so high, but so is his poise. He's exceptionally rare in his calmness for such a youngster. It's just who he is, and he's a stone cold assassin years ahead of schedule. He should just be rounding into being competent around November, not leaving people wondering if he's ready to be drafted top-15 now or should come back to go #1.
