QB Dwayne Haskins Jr. (All B1G, B1G OPOY, Silver Football, Rose Bowl MVP, R.I.P.)

Which coincides with what is, most likely, shit coaching. I said when he was drafted he was in a bad spot.
I wish I could agree with you but nah, this isn't a coaching issue.

Coaching isn't why he struggles throwing simple screen passes etc.

I think he has some talent but I think he's in a dangerous place right now as far as his long term prospects go. ☹

People are saying it's Ron's decision but he went from 100% behind Haskin's to he needs to do better or get benched as soon as rumors came out the front office wasn't happy with the Browns game. Sure seems like the incompetent front office meddled again cause they saw the division sucked and thought they can get in the playoffs at 7-9 and for what? To get their heads caved in by 20-30 while the 1 legged Alex Smith rides off into the sunset and leaves them with a shitty draft position and they crator the carrier of of someone they hoped to be their QB of the future? Classic can't see more than 2 inches in front of their face short sighted move.
I would buy this theory is not for one thing:
Ron IS the front office.

Except he's clearly not or there wouldn't have been leaks of the front office being unhappy. And yes he has his own problems mainly accuracy has regressed and he has started trying to use all arm and seems to be hearing footsteps... But if you want to ruin a QB this is how you do it. Starting Allen at the beginning of the season and letting Dwayne sit and learn the system would have made sense but you don't bench him for Allen once you go with starting him.

This all ended predictably once the change after the Cleveland game happened. He takes risks with the ball first time all season and you tell him if he plays like that again he's benched. So suddenly he's hyper conservative and timid. What do you expect when I guy who has been not great but not turning the ball over all season will do if as soon as he tries to do more you tell him do it again and you're benched. The hyper conservativism was super easy to predict because they didn't have his back enough to allow him to make mistakes and learn. And as soon as the division blows donkey balls we can win this kicked in he was doomed. The offense has no starting level talent besides McClaurin and a guard and McClaurin would be a 2 at best likely a slot guy on a team with talent atm. I don't expect Kyle allen to do much better and get benched for Alex Smith in a few games who might sneak them into the playoffs if he doesn't get hurt. Then he walks away or is cut this year and you have nothing to show for it but a mid to late round draft pick which doesn't help you get any better and your QB of the future possibilities is some cratored wreckage in a field some where cause most young QBs do not have the confidence to bounce back from such a benching.

The players love Haskins, and I’m not sure this is going over well in locker room.

He’s being scapegoated for a terrible offense. Dwayne has a really good head on his shoulders and I still expect him to be a good NFL QB. Hopefully not in Washington.

I’m not disagreeing with you that he hasn’t been performing up to the level we all hoped ... but he’s played 13th games, 3 under a new OC....Seems like a small ass sample size to “move on from” but I’m not an NFL FO guy or on the staff so what do I know..
Are they moving on though? Or letting him sit, practice, and learn? Because that’s what they should have fucking done from the beginning. Not thrown him out there with the Alex Smith redemption story over his shoulder. He shouldn’t have played last year either. If QBs back in the day needed time to develop after playing 3-4 years in college, why the fuck are they throwing one year starters to the wolves?

I believe they are moving on... I also believe he wont get another chance...at least with washington... he MIGHT get a chance with another team.... and teams dont draft QBs in the first round to develop them (Green Bay’s recent pick is an outlier and they did it to get a pissed off Aaron Rodgers which was brilliant).

He absolutely will get another chance somewhere else. Probably not as an immediate starter but definitely as a back-up. New England might be the perfect spot for him

I'm assuming the WFT will try to trade him after the season. I'm not sure what the guaranteed money situation is since that could determine if they have to hold onto him for longer. You don't get drafted that high and not get a second or 3rd chance. I think the Browns are set at backup QB for the next couple years, but I'd have no problem bringing Haskins in after that. Unless Baker makes a huge jump I think Haskins could be just as good for less money if Baker wants Mahomes or Wilson money. It's hard to put a guy in that shit show of an offense and then blame him for being bad. Of course this is also a big reason why it is good for a QB to stay in school especially when they've only started 1 season.

On Thursday, Buckeye head coach Ryan Day was asked about Haskins' demotion in Washington on his weekly radio show. Having served as Ohio State's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2017 and 2018 while Haskins was in Columbus, Day knows the former Heisman Trophy finalist well.

"Dwayne is a very talented young man and I've got a special place in my heart for him and this is not easy for him to go through," Day said. "But he's going to come out of it and he's got a lot of football ahead of him. But it is difficult. There is a lot that goes into playing when you get to the NFL and you get to that level.

"I know him. He's resilient, he's strong, he going to work through this. All great quarterbacks have gone through adversity and for him, he really didn't face a ton of adversity when he was here. He kind of played behind J.T. (Barrett) and won the job and then kind of went to the NFL."

Day makes a good point on Haskins. After redshirting as a true freshman in 2016, Haskins became Barrett's backup the next year after an injury to Joe Burrow in fall camp. He played in eight games for the Scarlet and Gray that season, throwing for 565 yards and four touchdowns to one interception off the bench. Haskins won the starting quarterback job over Burrow the following spring and put together a record-setting year at Ohio State in 2018 with 4,831 passing yards, 50 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
